Been listening to his first 2 albums on vinyl a lot recently. The Wild, The Innocent and The E Street Shuffle is absolutely superb stuff.

Still don't really get all the hype around Darkness on the Edge of Town. A lot of average stuff on there amid the odd tune.

It's definitely my favourite, but I don't think it tails off onto the second side either. The one-two of racing In The Street and The Promised Land is maybe his greatest moment, I'd say.

In comparison, TWTI&TESS has a few clunkers and the first album is promising at best.

Although people have laughed at the idea of Prince being considered a back-up for the Rolling Stones, I can actually see there being an element of truth to it. If plans for Prince have fallen through in the past because, like the Stones, he's a greedy sod, what's to stop Glasto offering him a million due to the Stones saying no? Jagger and co saying no could potentially make this the one year Prince is in with a chance, because the money is already put to one side. Very unlikely both acts would play though, surely there's not enough in the pot for both?

Also, if Eavis can't achieve his long-term mission of bagging the Stones, getting another elusive headliner might soften the blow for him

I went to see arcade fire at hyde park a couple of years ago and mumfords were the support. The place was RAMMED for mumfords, and about 25% of the crowd went home after them, and didnt even bother watching a single note of arcade fire

and they have only got massively more popular since.

I really believe mumford and sons would pull an unbelievably big crowd. I also reckon 50% of them wouldnt be able to name more then 2 prince songs!

Would a million quid be less than what Prince would normally expect for a festival? He doesn't openly hate the festival anyway, so he once said something very stupid about them selling tickets on the back of his name, doesn't mean he wouldn't play if he was offered enough. It's all academic now anyway

    • as if by magic... (but don't tell anyone that it isn't that easy to just cut welfare and that maybe taxes will have to go up)
    • Lost my love of football years ago so I pay very little attention to it these days but I'm really enjoying Max Rushden's video diaries of his flat share with Barry Glenddening. I think Barry might kill him before the end of the tournament
    • Not sure if we had a si glow weekend goer on here last year so will be good to have a proper review of the new format
