However .... I reckon Michael might get a right ear-bashing from the locals if he gave them Dizzee on the Sunday when the fest had the Stones on the Saturday - so perhaps days have been swapped around for a reason as simple as that. I don't think it's impossible.

Dizzee Rascal as a headliner... fucking hell. i have no issues with him or his music. actually love some of his music (even some of the later pop stuff) but.. headlining Glastonbury seems just a step up too much. i know he subbed last time and (apparently) nailed it, but i honestly can't see many people getting excited over him headlining

Well that's one bit of the Arctic Monkeys setlist guaranteed...

Is he likely to play below a headline act? Or is it a case of 'if he's booked, he'll headline'? I guess the new album would have to be pretty darn good for him to increase in popularity from 2010? No doubt he'd still get a massive crowd with the 'headline' factor.

And actually, if days have been changed around, that might mean Arctics on the Saturday.

The two acts who had just been given the push were in a considerably stronger position than Mumford and Dizzee. Killers had already been offered the headline, and were touring off the back of a massively successful record, and Arctics had the fastest selling debut record of all time, and were viewed as era defining.

While they would have in common being given the push, there's a vast difference in their standings.

I'm quite looking forward to the pissing and moaning now if it turns out to be Dizzee or the Mumfords or someone else getting a boost up. Even though the way the rumours have gone it seems to be fairly well telegraphed and if they have got the Stones (regardless of alleged fee) the festival has a huge coup at the top of the bill anyway, the tears will flow

I don't know how much it might effect what he chooses to do, but I know he sometimes gets stick off locals for some of the Sunday headliner choices, and so I've been told he'd rather not get that stick (fairly obviously, really).

I can't think of any major reasons why he wouldn't swap things around if he could tho, to give them a more widely-acceptable headliner. Then again I'm probably not taking everything into consideration.

    • They built a watering system and have been watering the island for the past few weeks to reduce dust, but given the current drought, there will still be dust. They will cover twice as much ground around the main stage with those plastic panels as they did before. They couldn't book Gogol Bordello because the singer was afraid the government would allow Russian security services to capture him if he entered the country. They didn't have much room to be selective about artists. They booked whoever they could get. This year's Sziget will be only about 50% of his original vision. He wanted a dedicated rock stage. They are preparing for a loss of 1.5 billion HUF this year. For some reason, student tickets are not selling in the numbers they had expected. He said that when he talks about the lineup being less important, he doesn't mean Sziget should have a weaker lineup than Primavera. Rather, it should have a similarly strong lineup combined with much more non-musical programming, so people from abroad come here to see the same artists but have a completely different overall experience. He didn't miss Sziget and originally wanted to spend no more than two days a week dealing with it, but now he's working on it full-time and has handed over control of the rest of his businesses.
    • Well the point seems to be 22.7% turn out doesn't suggest the majority are rushing out to support the mayoral system.
    • I wonder if they had that vote again they'd vote differently, seeing how successful other mayors like Burnham have been?
    • Doesn't surprise me. West Yorkshire had a vote if they wanted a mayor in 2012 and voted no. The government then ignored the vote and announced the position anyway in 2016.
