2013 Headliners

so with all this talk of the arctic monkeys headlining again surely kasabian must get a nod soon. Imo they are bigger and better than the monkeys but have never headlined!! Their arena tours all sell out within minutes of going on sale, theyve headlined all the other major festivals and dont seem to be on any of the other festivals lineups next year. Im praying they at least play but feel they deserve a headline slot.

So with Mumfords added to the V rumours and Biffy added to R&L do we think this makes these bands significantly less likely for Glasto?

I reckon if either of them play those fests they'll headliner and V and R&L wouldn't want their headliners at glasto too. Looking more and more like Gaga to me.

If Bloc Party play i could only see them one or two down on Pyramid

They headlined other in 09 so cant see them wanting to play a lesser slot on same stage

They have a massive following, still based mainly on cult status of silent alarm, and agree with an earlier poster that JP would struggle to hold the numbers.

I saw them play 4th down on pyramid in 07 which was late afternoon-ish and they absolutely nailed it. It was a silent alarm heavy set at that point though which is probably why

I have no interest in Fleetwood Mac at all, but I'd be weirdly happy if they played, gives me an excuse to leave the Pyramid and explore the rest of the festival :).

I guess the thing with Bloc Party is they seem like more of an Other Stage type band than a Pyramid type band these days as they've had very little mainstream coverage over the last few years because of the hiatus and Four being completely (and imo, wrongly) overlooked, but still have a strong 'cult' following. And yet they won't headline Other again (not big enough / Glasto doesn't repeat stage headliners so quickly). Very hard to place. Similar situation at R&L I think - can see them subbing once again, but it wouldn't surprise me if they played 2nd stage there against Eminem.

Excellent news that Earl's Court is more-or-less sold out, I thought they'd overreached in thinking they'd fill somewhere that big. Had visions of being there in February with the place half empty.

Finally, there is some circumstantial evidence that R&L might be relaxing on its 'exclusive headliners' restriction - if it does turn out to be Biffy, they'd be the first headliner to have played to a sizeable amount of people in the same year, what with their spring arena tour. The festival has a new band booker who might not be so bothered about the exclusives tag. Plus, there's so few realistic headline possibilities for R&L next year they might be forced to go for some bands that are playing elsewhere whether they like it or not.

Fleetwood Mac added to 'Sunday' on the rumours page. Huge set of headliners!!

not 'added'.

They've been changed to give the day as Sunday, because I've had some info which gives their day as that. However, what I don't really have is anything solid enough to put them as anything stronger than a rumour at the moment.

http://www.thelineofbestfit.com/news/latest-news/primavera-2013-line-up-leaked-115239 Daft punk are on the leaked line up poster for Primavera...

are people falling for these 'leaked' posters, still?

It's massively more likely that any 'leaked' poster is more likely to be a fake than it is genuine. There's even templates floating around for many of the fests now, so that anyone can easily make their own.

It doesn't get to mean that every poster is a fake of course, but there's absolutely no reason to put any belief in them unless there's something else along with the poster to give it some credibility.

    • Hope they skip the fireworks and the burning of the man this year tbh, seemed dodgy last year with all the reports of embers and this year is drier. Don't want to be a killjoy but it's only a big bonfire at the end of the day.    May also need extra care with BBQ and gas stoves etc, always worries me slightly in the campervan field where vans are very very close together!    Not had campervan pass in the mail yet either.   Looking forward to the beer festival and enjoying a few pints while taking in some mellow tunes in the walled garden if the sun carries on shining like this 😎
    • Haha yeah maybe not the best comparison as Gavin seems a good lad. It was to express how he's usually spot-on with his information
    • Ah then yeah one of them has gotta be a very strong chance.
    • I think there could, repeat COULD, be some truth to this Madonna stuff, re BST and no Glastonbury.   Think it's demands around stage/production stuff.
    • Yes sorry for delay in replying! I'll message you when I put it on there. I think it goes live next week
