One of the NME headliners will surprise everyone when it gets announced - and it wont be for a while. And it will totally embarass another festival. And it will please the rock fans who are disappointed. Go figure.

I am looking forward to Deftones, Ian Brown and Prodigy.......

Radiohead will be worth a watch...not seen them for a while, and well they are from the same town! (See Thom Yorke shopping in Waitrose occasionally!)

Kaiser Chiefs - WTF thought they'd f**ked off ages ago.

Bloc Party thats at least 3 years running now - surely something else is out there?

Same with Placebo

Ian Brown would probably suit R1 tent a bit better than middle of the day main stage.

looking forward to seeing what the rest of the line up offers

chuck in a couple from Rancid, Lawrence arms, NOFX, and some electro and I'd be even happier but it's not bad. missed gaslight anthem last year so looking forwad to that. think I'll spend more time wandering round randomly listening to stuff I've never heard this year.

Frank Turner is yet to be added. Theres a chance of The Offspring and Janes Addiction (maybe just wishful thinking). Maybe Rancid. Probably 2-3 more I'd like to see that I cant think of. For me it could still scrape to a decent lineup although I doubt it

I really love the lineup - we have basicly 4 headliners

Arctic Monkeys

Prodigy

Radiohead

Kings of Leon

All of whom i really like.

I think the lineup is much more varied than people are giving it credit for and cosnidering everybody moans on here I think the general reaction has been quite positive.

i think the line ups amazing, they have got rid of the dated metal day (should have done that years ago) and have got some great bands - i almost want to go

Right . . . I have just sat and read through this whole thread (I have no life :D) and woah!! its getting pretty heated haha

I just want to have my 2 cents worth lol

I'm not over the moon about the lineup and I am very shocked to notice that the 'heavy/rock' friday (I go to leeds) has disappeared!! the friday is possibly my favourite day. however I got pretty varied taste so a bit of 'indie' (very large bracket im using there) suits me fine too. I just think they have overdone it this year is all.the lineup lacks variety but not completely.

That said, I am still going because the festival in itself is an ace experience, there is enough in the lineup to interest me and they havnt even announced half the bands that are going to be playing yet so im just hoping once that is done we have a more complete and varied lineup. In all honesty guys could there be any more indie?!?! lol they pretty much have it all already haha so thats kind of a good sign

I wouldnt however put it as mediocre (crap ) as V, not yet but I must admit its coming dangerously close, I mean Kaiser Chiefs second headliner?!?! sick (in the not good way)

I think that some of you have raised valid points in that sonisphere and download have a lot of the heavier bands this year therefore narrowing the choices slightly for R/L. I agree with this to a certain extent and not at the same time. Yeah Sonisphere and DL have a lot of the heavier acts, some of which I would like to have seen at leeds although some of them already did leeds (or reading) last year. so yeah it does narrow their choices slightly but at the same time there is still a lot more metal/rock/heavy/alternative than what is at DL and SP and I think Mr Benn would do well to get some of them on the lineup this year.

Overall I am not overly disappointed with the lineup it caters for one part of my taste, now im just hoping with the future lineups it caters for the rest

Well, 5 bands! WOOP

ahahahaha

Deftones, Placebo, The Prodigy, White Lies and The Gaslight Anthem.

Those are bands that i WANT to see and will go out of my way to do so.

36CF, Franky T and Rise Against? Well, if they play too then it is looking betterer.

Lock-Up, for me, could be even bigger draw than last year.

Is there any chance that Weezer and The Offspring would headline NME/R1?

Because that would be swish!

I have never seen Deftones before so I am very pleased they are playing, but I bet they end up clashing with Frank Turner! That would do my NUT :D

I would probably give the line-up a C. Fairly predictable with hindsight?

    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
