Brakes playing london lexington Weds Sept 2 as a warm up. Reckon that makes them playing the Thursday more likely.

The festival certainly used to pride itself on the amount of time it gave sets, I can't see them being shortened in the same way I can't see them ditching the secret sets or Boat DJs. My workaround is to open Big Top on Thursday as apparently there's been some unconfirmed speculation about that already, use up a secret set slot per night and put some on Folly opposite the Woods headliner (as they are already on Thursday) but that's not left space for the still to be announced Next Wave. Though I haven't reflected this, what complicates matters further is that apparently the Mac's Record Label showcase is on Friday night in Folly and I've no idea if that means it's overriding the secret sets after all or "night" means starting in late afternoon (I've no idea if that actually Demarco's his headline night either)

Yeah not sure "they're playing here on this day" means anything, especially when its the South of England.  A band could be in Spain the night before EOTR and still play here. Meants owt

Given how high up the line-up page and poster/graphic they are there's no way they're playing Folly.

They have a second album about to come out. Also, if Geese really are the surprise act, Simon has pulled off a magnificent job of securing the two most hyped bands of 2026, alongside indie classics like Pulp and SFA, whilst others might be impressed to see Earl Sweatshirt too. A tremendous effort all round.

Not to be a debbie downer, but does anyone else think this Angine de Poitrine are a bit of a gimmick? besides the outfits I don't see how they differ musically from many psych rock bands out there. They basically blew up as a kind of meme, which doesn't exactly suggest they will have staying power once people get over the initial shock/comedy value of the looks...

 

Los Thuthanaka seem the far more exciting new addition from my viewpoint!

oh i'm sure they'll be a big pull. I guess I'm saying if they are to be a flash in the pan I would rather them not take Big Top headliner, which is a prime slot with not much else on. Whack em on the Woods at a similar time to GOAT last year

Yeah I mean this is very obviously true. Angine seem like a silly gimmick without interesting tunes, seems like a very TikTok viral act. Will probably be forgotten in 18 months. BUT probably a laugh to see live too and defo gonna be rammed

Given their style of music if kind of freeflowing plus a second album plus their set is not for more than 6 months, they could definitely play for 60 mins or even 75 mins by September.

 

Math rock has always been quite a niche genre and without the outfits no one would be paying them much attention. They'll have 12 months of fame and something else will come along.

Jesus the backlash has started early! Will be hearing "prefer the early stuff" when the new album is released. 

 

Sometimes a gimmick/bit of promotion is what makes the difference from playing gigs to 50 people for years and then breaking up or making it. No issue with them dressing like a Python sketch if it means they get more notice. Which they have done.

 

Floppy c*ck nose or not, that Sherpa tune is a belter.

I don't feel like AdP were being criticised.

 

More of an observation that their hype owes mostly to how they dress and an observation that the music industry (and to a large extent punters too) will likely get bored of them.

 

It's not their fault they play a niche genre but they do!

It is not a critic to say I've got a bit tired of the second wave of Math Rock in 2001 or so, with angular guitar and synth. So not so interested in the third wave or whatever that is. Big fan of Polvo, Don Caballero, so no issue with the style here.
