I would maybe suggest frank carter and the sex pistols but im not so sure they fit the vibe or if yhem already being at boomtown may prevent that also

I’m with you here. I think it would be an awful booking for 2KT. Not the vibe at all. Also not sure how on earth the sex pistols are relevant to the majority of the 2KT crowd.

Committed to Outbreak Manchester, MCR in Liverpool, and now Rock Werchter too. With Trees the following weekend it now looks like too much in too short of a time.

Unfortunately Trees is the one to go and I've cancelled my ticket. Very thankful for their flexible refund policy from the early birds that allows you time to make decisions like this and secure the best price. Shame to miss out on a few acts like Pool Kids and Saturdays At Your Place that I'd really like to see.

Hope everyone else going has a great time, but with all due respect, I now hope the rest of the line-up announcements are absolute rubbish.

You’ll see most bands you want to see at Trees again with the next couple of years, I wouldn’t worry.

With Amyl, AFI and Sex Pistols all seemingly out it seems we've got ourselves a surprise. Could be Rise Against still I guess but that date in Europe smack bang in the middle of the weekend seems to make that less likely

It didnt stop them coming from Austria though playing sub to playing 4th down Download the next day

If anything I take Amyl saying "except for a couple that are yet to be announced" as them explicitly saying they have a couple of festival slots booked and they're waiting on the festivals to announce them. If anything that seems to make a 2000 Trees slot more likely to me. Am I missing something?

"In the same time frame" trees it probably just outside of it, there's a big gap between trees and the first show in August

True, but the festival dates can't be amongst the August tour dates though really, so they'd have to be in July, or the last weekend of August e.g Reading. I take your point though that Trees is early July. Reading & Leeds being the "couple" of shows makes the most sense.

Assuming it's shows in the UK to begin with

Or of course the first weekend of august. As far as.i can see thats clear.  Seems very unlikely they would be over another 2 to 3 weeks earlier

Sunny Day Real Estate just been announced as support for MCR on the 11th of July. Axiom headliner? Not sure they're quite big enough for main stage but they may be too expensive for anything but that

The only free Axiom headline slot is the day before they support MCR so quite possible. Don't imagine they'd headline the whole thing.

There's confusion about whether Billy Talent are playing at The Offspring's Crystal Palace show - they're included on e.g Pup's tour page, and in a social post by Ticketmaster, but not on the poster or the official website lineup.

Seems likely that they're playing Trees, and that whatever is preventing them confirming the Crystal Palace show also affects when Trees are allowed to announce them? Guessing perhaps they want to announce it all themselves as a "20 year anniversary of Billy Talent II" thing perhaps.

    • Maybe hopeful but get Knocked Loose on the Sunday opposite the legend. Similar to the slot Turnstile had in 2022. Would be absolutely phenomenal.
    • One of my personal favourite bands at the minute - MUNA. Was very surprised not to see them booked in 2023 with their last album but hopefully they'll be around next year. Very fun new album from these guys and, as aforementioned, another standout for me at Big Weekend.
    • Absolutely second this. Were great at Big Weekend and already have a great catalogue of songs forming so far. Would love to see them on the farm!
    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
