There's confusion about whether Billy Talent are playing at The Offspring's Crystal Palace show - they're included on e.g Pup's tour page, and in a social post by Ticketmaster, but not on the poster or the official website lineup.

Seems likely that they're playing Trees, and that whatever is preventing them confirming the Crystal Palace show also affects when Trees are allowed to announce them? Guessing perhaps they want to announce it all themselves as a "20 year anniversary of Billy Talent II" thing perhaps.

Trees probably have dibs on announcing them first or at the same time and next announcement isnt til Jan, then they'll be confirmed for both I reckon.

Odd they got announced for that one German festival doing the 20 years thing

So if Billy Talent are only co-headlining with Neck Deep that proves the point Billt can't outright.

Are we sure Neck Deep are going to be there? And if so, would it be a co-headline or would Neck Deep be the other unannounced headliner on the other day? I would say Billy Talent are big enough for Trees under any circumstances, but especially if they're doing a special edition anniversary show of a specific beloved album.

Statistically speaking, both Neck Deep and Billy Talent are bigger than Alkaline Trio, so it would be weird if they lumped two successful acts together into one co-headline slot and had a less popular band do another day by themselves.

Nobody has suggested they're co-headlining. The person guessed they'd be the two remaining headliners.

James was saying that the line up last Trees was "top heavy" which could imply slightly smaller headliners this year to accommodate a more all rounder line up of band sizes

Billy Talent aren't as big in the UK as they are in the EU, but I think they could still take a punt at the headliner slot especially if they're doing the 20th anniversary of BTII thing

they've most recently headlined Troxy in the UK which is a 3100 cap venue, and they subbed Enter Shikari a few years ago at Slam Dunk Festival

Alkaline Trio haven't played that high at Slam Dunk. I think BT are the sort of band that will get the nostalgia bump that's benefited a lot of Trees headliners

Honestly I really hope so, I'd love a full length headline set from them as opposed to a sub set

Yeah that makes sense given how rammed their Axiom set was last year. Speaking of positions can safely assume so far, Glassjaw have got to be subbing the main and Cancer Bats seem pretty likely for Cave headliners.

I love Glassjaw but it seems a very strange booking for high up on the main stage. I saw them at Outbreak last year and the crowd was very small (perhaps 1000 at most in the whole BEC indoor space and by far the smallest of the weekend), although they did play twice in two days.

There seems to be lots of hate on here about BT headlining outright but they put on a great show and would be perfect for headlining this festival, and I wouldn't class them as pop-punk at all.

Its not hate, its one person's obsession with thinking he knows about wether bands are too big or not big enough to headline every festival going.

Does rise against being main support for the jimmy eat world outdoor shows rule them out for trees

I think they were a longshot anyway as it's be a tight turnaround to Austria or somewhere the next day, and while this doesn't definitely rule them out I think it makes them even less likely

The headliner choices are definitely getting whittled down.

Billy Talent seems a likely option, but odd they wouldn’t announce if they’ve got it sorted given they are on that London bill. Neck Deep was probably always going to be a post-tour announcement if they were playing.

Apart from Enter Shikari, I don’t know who else they will turn to now unless there is a wildcard like Yellowcard up their sleeve. The Front Bottoms will probably be here and/or Outbreak given that leak but not sure they would be big enough to headline outright.

We may find out eventually but it does seem a bit of a “nearly” year for 2KT headliners. Many bands of the right size and fit active, but all doing other things. Not to mention the competition from other shows around it like MCR.

They could headline The Cave but I don't see it and I thought both sets they played at Outbreak were decently attended. Didn't seem any less or more busy than other stuff but Outbreak is a weird one, you get tons of bands in the middle of the day getting bigger crowds. They're bigger than letlive. (who are pretty much are Glassjaw 2.0) so I think that they're a safe bet to sub

Trees mainly is wild cards with them getting fly ins frequently, I think this year was the best guess we had but for 2024 I don't think anyone predicted The Chats for example and they do like to announce headliners one at a time with this year being the exception so I wouldn't read too much into certain acts being held back. I do think Billy Talent are quite likely for the Sat headliner and they haven't been formally announced for the The Offspring show yet so could be announcing all their UK/European dates in the new year.

Not saying that would headline but could sub but Malev are still due to appear at one more fest this year aren't they? I know they're at Slam Dunk but

Who is hating in Billy Talent?, thinking they can't headlight something isn't a hate of them.

    • Primavera refunding day tickets which are probably a negligible percentage of attendees yesterday.
    • Thursday day tickets being refunded. Fair play.
    • I’ve had a good sleep and I feel weirdly zen about the whole thing.   My first Primavera, so not the greatest first impression. I guess today couldn’t be any worse, right?   Thoroughly enjoyed Men I Trust and Geese. Cupra is a beautiful stage and the crowd seemed fun, friendly and engaged.   I think it probably could have gone even worse, considering how dangerous the crowding felt at times.   Anyway, we go again.
    • Brighton centre is a weird old venue for the Mary Wallopers - a great band, a really good live spectacle, and its a saturday night as well which sets it all up - but its at the bloody Centre? a charmless nonsense of a conference centre? Brighton dome is a ten min walk away and is so much nicer a place to see bands its ridiculous!    ah well, i'll probably mosy along anyways . . .
    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
