Personally a bit underwhelmed, Pup and DPU only ones in really excited by but excited to dig into the lineup and discover some new bands.

Any recommendations on where to start with Alkaline Trio?

From Here To Infirmary > Good Mourning > Crimson

In that order.

They don't really play too much off From Here To Infirmary anymore - if someone was looking to get into them with the intention of seeing them at Trees, I'd definitely suggest Good Mourning.

Well deffo won't be the Sunday 😉

haha, that old Saturday finishing lol. I think Rise Against will do it Friday and AFI Thursday but it's more out of hope as nothing that day indicates to me an undercard for AFI and nothing to say they are in Europe either. JEW could be another again but the undercard doesn't match and they won't be Friday as they played with Creeper directly under last time.

So we seemingly got the right agency that they were talking to....Alk 3 were one of the six or so bands that were possible from the roster

AFI being one, what were the others?

Are Neck Deep the headliner hiding in plain sight? Makes sense they are holding them back as they have a big tour in December. Somehow, they continue to sell tickets.

I'm definitely in the camp that Rise Against are off the table now.

I think it was AFI, Rise Against, Frank Carter & Sex Pistols, can't remember the other

went through and listened to every band on the line up I'd not heard yet and found some new ones to enjoy; Lemonsuckr, Saturdays At Your Place, Nothing, Footballhead, Lickshot, I Am The Avalanche, Lonesome, Grandma's House, Guillotine, God Complex, Glass Bridges and IOTA are all artists I may consider seeing at the fest

the band "a forest" is a new project with no released music as of yet from Matt Hughes, who usually does PR stuff and he seems to be working with some members of Arcane Roots

I'm also very excited about Cancer Bats, PUP, Dinosaur Pile-Up, Have Mercy, Frozemode, House Of Protection and Love Rarely

Think they bigged up the Wednesday headliner a bit much though, I like pup but are they really that much bigger than Hot Milk, Boston Manor, Bob Vylan etc

PUP have headlined the Roundhouse in London (3,300 capacity)

I am not aware of any of those other bands having headlined a larger UK venue

Can see AFI Friday and Sex Pistols Saturday tbf. Think AFI and Alkaline Trio would suit supporting MCR too and I think James was after some of the supports.

Website placements look like a bit of a mess at the moment, Alkaline Trio for Saturday and Superheaven and Dinosaur Pile Up listed as main stage when James just announced them as Axiom headliners on the podcast.

Hoping they might get updated soon so we can get start putting the clashfinder puzzle together.

James also described last year as a top heavy lineup, and said this one would be more balanced. Probably doesn't help spending on 5 (co)headliners. Imagine this comment might mean we don't have any massive budget busting headliners to come.

Fingers crossed for the next announcement! Lots to dig into this weekend.

That Neck Deep tour basically sold out instantly, no reason to hold them back. I just think Trees wants to release a headliner for each announcement. Pretty sure they do this most years and this year was more an exception

Can't see them not having a "new" or female headliner really

Everyone is listed as main stage on the website tbf (or it was when I checked yesterday morning). The website has always been a mess

Yeah good point, just checked and it was only the Wednesday bands that are all listed as Forest that are different. Just wanna know how much to get my hopes up or not with big spaces left to fill.

Discovered Love Rarely just now - brilliant!

Love Rarely imo are the best upcoming UK band right now alongside unpeople, definitely worth seeing them, I've managed to catch them live three times now

they're supporting The Callous Daoboys on their tour in February

There will be plenty of big spots left to fill, they always keep bands back to load up later announcements

Hot Milk are literally headlining the Roundhouse like, next week. Bob Vylan were doing 2k venues before they became mega famous through scandal and could probably easily do a 3k venue now. PUP are a good booking, but I wouldn't say they're much bigger than previous. They're slightly bigger at most, and some would say on a fairly equal footing.

I'm amazed he's said it, because they're who everyone will think it is, and then they'll be gutted when it's inevitably not them

Yeh I don't actually think it's Biffy, but will once again keep dreaming.

My more realistic thinking (though still optimistic) is an old school Creeper set

Don't think it's Frank, think he takes a break for a year before headlining 2027 20th Anniversary

I suppose the context really is that all of those artists have become bigger since they headlined the Trees Wednesday, whereas PUP are doing it when they've already surpassed that level so James is viewing them as a bigger act in this instance, despite those other artists having caught up with PUP's UK popularity level

Any good recommendations for the Saturday please beyond the top 3?
I'm kind of out-of-touch with the heavier side of music these days and haven't heard of any of the bands playing (to my shame) and the newer upcoming bands, but my friends band are playing, so will likely grab myself a day ticket for the day! I'm normally more of a Truck Festival goer, but do like a dabble in the heavier side of things, just a bit less than I used to.
