Big headliners, so weak support.

Didn't they say they don't want to be so dependent on headliners?

Can only assume this set of headliners is cheaper that usual one with huge names - Billie, Arctics, Dua etc.

They really need to look at the sub names though in the next announcement (is there even going to be another sizeable announcement now?)

Is Papa Roach really subbing Charli XCX? Is Saturday really going to be pretty much devoted to EDM? Seems crazy to have a genre-specific day. Is everyone not into EDM just expected to leave the festival site for the whole of Saturday?

Here are the day splits:

August 6: Charli xcx, Papa Roach, 999999999, Fatima Hajji, I hate models, Kenya Grace, Kiss of life, Palaye Royale, Rory

August 7: Shawn Mendes, Boris Brejcha, Justice, Nelly Furtado, Balu Brigada, Co Lee, Horsegiirl, S10

August 8: ASAP Rocky, Ahadadream, Ash Olsen, Caribou, Blossoms, Carlita, Ekkstacy, HoneyLuv, Hot Since 82, Scarlet Pleasure

August 9: Anyma, Adriatique, Bedouin, Dixon, Helado Negro, Hermanos Gutierrez, Korolova, Kolsch, RY X, Elefant

August 10: Post Malone, Armin van Buuren, Ecca Vandal, Elli Acula, Estella Boersma, Fat Dog, FJAAK, Hanabie., Isabela LaRosa, Riles, Sama' Abdulhadi, Zaho De Sagazan

August 11: Chappell Roan, Bou, The Blessed Madonna, Brutalismus 3000, Desiree, Eliza Rose, Fatima Yamaha, Hedex, Joey Velence & Brae, Kneecap, Luvcat, Refused, Young Marco

TBH, depending on the timetable, it's possible to make a good run on each of those days. I would say the 10th is the best here.
Still not that Sziget it used to be, probably never will.

Even comparing this to last year, it’s incredibly weak.

ok, the headliners are probably stronger than last year, but the undercard is looking very very thin.

seems to be going down well on social media but no one really seems to be commenting on a$ap court case. I am already foreshadowing a cancellation and replacement with macklemore

Normally there is one more smaller announcement with one more ‘big’ name and some undercard a couple of months before . But this will be the main selection of acts now

Refused is kind of punk-hardcore.

That is the only name close to "rock"... damn I'm sorry, but the first wave really was better, this one is for under-21 years old clearly. I'm disgusted ... 2 rap acts + 3 pop + 1 electro.

Sziget just sends a big “f**k you” to rock and their past line up.

This definitely is a new era.

Instagram comment from Sziget is implying a third announcement. Is that likely to include some slightly bigger names for the undercard do we think? I wonder if that's reliant on tickets sales - big sales means they're doing something right, slack sales means let's throw a few bigger names in the mix.

It seemed clear to me they are trying to move away from that with pop rap and dnb. From the 1st announcement.

so the 6 headliners are;

6th aug: charli xcx

7th aug: Shawn mendes

8th aug: a$ap rocky

9th aug: anyma

10th aug: post malone

11th aug: chapel roan

To me, Rocky is the outlier here. And depending on the court case outcome, could even be a cancellation in the future weeks. Doesn’t seem like a smart move in my opinion. It also leaves a bitter taste in my mouth given what he did and I wouldn’t want to see him

Allegations aside rocky is hardly an outlier considering they also have post malone

They literally said that the announcement would include some rock n roll.

Probably mean post malone - who sometimes considers himself it

I dont expect undercard to be any stronger really (other than 2-3 OK names). stronger undercards are usually already included in Set 1 and 2 announcements.

the direction of the festival looks very worrying (i mean, for me ofc). Im actually very sad about this, Sziget was soooo amazing pre-covid. the last two years were great, dispite musically being a lot less interesting than before, however I cant see myself enjoying this 2025 edition.

You are just setting yourself up for disappointment again.

There's plenty of announcements to come, for the other areas. Remember you only have 4 acts on the main stage

Out of the 5 artists in the circle 3 are playing on the same day. So I think we can still expect some names of that calibre for the other days

Would’ve expected caribou to be in that category so fingers crossed for some more big names

Instagram poster: "Where are the rock bands?"

Sziget response: "Hold up, the line-up's still cooking - more amazing artists still to come."

Maybe there is a flicker of hope....

I'm still hoping for Foster the People, Snow Patrol, Empire of the Sun, The Kooks 🤞🏼

Absolutely awful, kid pop music.

what a disastrous line up

Yep, they completely deny the "older festival goers", at a time when the average age is increasing because those "before 2000" are much more fond of festivals than the new generation.

I'm pretty sure they won't reach the figures of 2018 and 2019 (or even 2022!).

    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
    • 6music just shared a video of all of Fontaines DC singing along to the Cure last night. It'll be them. Booooo    Olivia might get up for I Love You though...
    • Proper loser behaviour wearing a tee like that. Me and my mate play a game every year called ‘Boomer Tees’ and there’s some gems every time.
