FOI requests are for public bodies and organisations, not a private Ltd company

I think that the numbers came from the Council as part of their licensing. I would guess that any deeper dive would be through the council rather than GFEL

Not according to the research I helped my friend with. We went through then proper channels with FOI requests and everything 🤷🏾‍♂️

The table I posted earlier showing the capacity since 2009 is from Glastonbury festivals planning application a couple years back.

I guess 3k or 5k doesn't make a huge difference, entirely possible we're splitting hairs over the allocation of hospitality tickets or something that's not public.

And you don't think the council has a say in any of this?

Of course they do, I'd be interested in the FOI report, what was the reference number?

Are you a morning or evening person?

Litter pickers during the fest can be v early starts.

A morning person and the litter shifts are evening ones 5 - 11pm

There are a variety of shift times with recycling crew: morning, afternoon and evening

I'd be extremely surprised if the council responded to an FOI request about Glastonbury's licence in any other way than to state the information is already in the public domain.

Well your first reply to me suggested I was lying, so I corrected you and put you right (because you don't seem to have a solid understanding about how public events work, and I don't like being called a liar). Now, after, pissing me off, do you think I would go to any effort to provide you with a reference number? It's something I'd help a friend out with, but you're definitely not on that list.

Here's the information from the licence - publicly available, no FOI requests necessary.

https://democracy.somerset.gov.uk/documents/s18975/Glastonbury Debrief Scrutiny Report 13 Dec 2023 FINAL.pdf

The Glastonbury Festival Premises Licence authorises one event per calendar year that allows access to public ticket holders for no more than 6 days. A new licence was applied for in 2018 which increased the attendance from 203,000 to 210,000. These figures include all public weekend tickets and Sunday-only tickets for those who are 13 years old or above, as well as staff, volunteers, complimentary and performer passes.

Despite the increased numbers being agreed in 2018 there was no increase in attendees in 2019 as attendance remained at 203,000. In preparation for the 2020 event GFEL expressed a desire to raise numbers to the full capacity of the licence, however, due to the COVID Pandemic neither the 2020 nor 2021 event took place. In December 2021 GFEL submitted plans for the 2022 event and again requested an increase in number to the maximum 210,000 attendees as per the licence.

Even you must be able to see that tells you nothing, which is why the FOI request was made for academic purposes in order to see a more detailed breakdown. Was you planning to prove yourself right with that quote? If so, you failed. Seriously, I just wanted to be helpful in the conversation and you call me a liar. Not just taking that mate.

I'm not giving you lot any more of my time. Just sit there smugly in your ignorance. Have a really lovely day 🖕🏾

I'm curious as to why the figures Glastonbury provided to the council in their planning application showing a 3k increase since 2019 are different from what you received from them.

I've worked in live events for 33 years, including working at Glasto since 1992 for many of them.

And last year as a Gate Manager working direct for GFEL

So I know exactly how public events work and strangely enough the numbers of ticket holders/crew etc for this one.

There has been an increase in public tickets for 2025, not in recent previous years though.

Anyway as you got a bit angry, we'll leave it at that..

It would require effort in finding the source of the information on my part, and I'm not willing to do that for the people who would want to see it. If they want the actual breakdown they can easily make their own information request (if they know what they're asking for).

I'm happy with the public information on the licence and scrutiny reports.  I'm certainly not about to make my own FOI request for information that's already out there.   The average cost of an FOI request is £164 to local government, so it's best to research public information yourself.

No one is willing to put their money where their mouth is, so that's the end of the discussion I suppose.

So, what's your favourite thing about camping in Tom's Field. Mine is the proximity to Bobo's Bar 🍺
