I think there's a couple of things about the bus fare cap that are going unspoken:

This is corporate socialism, the bus companies can still charge what they want, they're just passing a large part of the bill onto the govt.

If this is particularly popular, it's going to be hard to reverse by any govt in future. Subdising bus fares will either last only ~2years (canned in 2029 election after coming in place in 2027), or for decades.

I don't like that it's coming out of climate aid. For all the "grant to loan, we're still offering the money immediately", one of the big issues with international climate negotiations, is that the West, and particularly Britain, has profited from industrialising before this was known. A big reason for grants to small countries isn't just kindness, it's an acknowledgement of that industrial history. This gives a lot of work to regain Britain's credibility internationally (when it was already pretty low), onto Ed Miliband....

It's there for August across the UK for school age kids, one of Reeves various holiday measures. They should definitely also extend the £1 ish fare for under 19s/students

Last shots of the cat .... think Burnham has a dog .... showing early promise still .... it's seems quite different to me that everything Labour / Burnham does comes with the question of how will it be paid for ... not that that isnt important it seems like a designed question that takes away positivity from the policy .... dont remember this under the Torys in quite the same manner when they spaffed loads of money away

Kinda the inevitability of British media though

She was CEO of New Economics Foundation, I think has other think tanks under her belt, very solid climate change credentials, and plenty of sustainability, social responsibility and the like.

She's also very articulate and manages media appearances very well.

NEF developed a tool for measuring Social Return on Investment. There's a good synopsis of their work here - fits well with Burnham's agenda.
