cause I hate to be all capitialist doomer boomer but without growth then its going to be really difficult, and very easy to say put up tax, tax the rich etc (I actually think they should just put in the basic rate on income tax), but reality is it often doesn't get what you need, is often super unpopular with someone, and often has diverse affects like hitting growth or jobs or whatever. So then there's cuts, but I mean where? Interested in the 10 year plan that he's going to come up with, because I think the next few years are going to be a mess, but people need hope that there is some sort of plan and destination.

of course it is...and they will struggle to borrow more but they can have a go...but more likely tax rises, and welfare cuts.

I actually think they're f**ked, but maybe they'll work something out,

Presumably they will do some borrowing under the name of 'Defence Bonds' but which is just debt under a different name.

They are f**ked because they cannot raise income tax, national insurance or VAT. Those are the places you can get tax from!

Yeah this, frustrating. They really messed up with those promises, but then they were trying to win an election.

Its easy to forget they weren't trusted at the last election and the vote share didn;' go up much despite the landslide of MP's

Anyway the dirty secret is we tax high incomes the same as other european countries and its the median/low incomes who are relatively under taxed. No one is putting that on an election leaflet

Miatta Fahnbulleh is energy sec.

That's a very good appointment - about as good as you could get in place of Ed.

Wes in Defence

Seems a strange role for him as he is one of the best attack dogs Labour have, whoever the shadow health secretaries were they never laid a glove. There is often consensus about government and opposition about defence, however maybe defence spending will see more differences.

Dissapointed Lisa Nandy is still there … she doesn’t seem to have done much for media , culture or sport

That seems to be harsh to me. What do you think someone can achieve in that job? I can’t remember many people who have had that role and have never got a strong feeling how successful they have been.
