Managing the Cabinet Office - Darren Jones was previous

Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster - GOV.UK https://share.google/ZCrzsT8JcwOW7caVd

Effectively the PM's right hand

Actually, there's more, very senior position of First Sec of State too.

Dan Jarvis might be an option I guess.

Also very interested in what Yvette Cooper gets.

And Angela Rayner - there's been talk of Health.

I'm completely wrong.

well you weren't the only one, a lot of the media were convinced too. Either someone somewhere was stringing people along, or there was a sudden change of mind by Burnham/whoever this weekend.

tbh not sure its just the markets if he doesn't pick Miliband, it will be more about authority and who's government this actually is.

The authority/political machinations argument is a much better reason not to pick Miliband as chancellor.

Putting him in the Foreign Office is batshit though. Miliband is a policy wonk, diplomacy and grubby deals are the things he's worst at.

I don't really mind Healey as Chancellor. It's not Mahmood/Streeting and it's someone with nous and treasury experience.

Lou Haigh being given such a powerful role is good news IMO. I really like her and think she was harshly treated by "no scandal Starmer" who then had about 7 subsequent scandals that were all worse.

I wonder if the Healey appointment however is seen as guaranteeing higher (defence) spending and which in turn suggests more borrowing and the markets might not like that.

I can't really see where Labour are going to get the money from to pay for their plans, given they can't touch the big taxes based on the manifesto promise.

of course it is...and they will struggle to borrow more but they can have a go...but more likely tax rises, and welfare cuts.

I actually think they're f**ked, but maybe they'll work something out,

    • Ultimately much of EU f**ked up with this, instead of showing solidarity they just said and did some stupid sh*t to supposedly punish Spain for their own political reasons. Ultimately its one of the reasons why EU will never fully reach its potential as long as it remains a group of sovereign states.

    • I would be very surprised as well if they are are European Festivals and Werchter isn't one of them. They have done Roskilde before but with big gaps   They have done NOS once and they have done Mad Cool once while playing 3 times at Werchter during the period Mad Cool has ran.
