Rod will do fine, plenty there will love it, plenty on the box will love it, plenty will moan about it. Perfect Legends Slot material.

I agree, and I'm surprised about the fuss...!  Who doesn't like Maggie May?!  Or Stay With Me?  And Do Ya Think I'm Sexy will be epic and hilarious in equal measures.

And was there this much fuss about the lesser-known Cat Stevens?  I really wanted to see him, but ended up at Elvana at Avalon, which was so much fun, so made the right choice... but was still genuinely gutted about that clash though.

There were lots of people moaning that Cat Stevens had no songs that anyone under 40 knew and that the field would be empty - then on the afternoon itself it was packed to the extent that they had to close entry via the lower parts of the field.

Expect Rod to be entirely the same.

The crowd reaction for Lionel was incredible. He's probably my favourite

I did enjoy Kylie too (and Shania, and Sheryl Crow when she played actually) but I grew up when their music was big and in the charts. Alanis will be exactly the same for me

The thing about Alanis (saying this as a teenager in the mid-90s!) is Jagged Little Pill appealed to just about everyone I knew.  My Boyzone-mad friend had the album... my Britpop-fan friends all had it... and even those into a bit of metal.  It was at every teen party... in the car full of friends driving to go clubbing... in the college canteen... it was everywhere. Just had that very universal appeal, for an albeit-brief period!  It's not an album I've played in years... and I wonder how many younger Glasto-goers actually know the album... but this is a great booking and one I'm really excited about!

Ah, thanks!  Wasn't aware of the moaning, or the closed entry!  Or were they all getting their spot for Elton?!  Anyway... who cares... glad he got a decent crowd!

To be fair I was a moaner... but I have come round to the idea. I probably know a few more songs now I have done a deep dive.

It’s not uncommon for people who wade into discussions with comments about projected crowd sizes or act suitability to be passive aggressively trying to suggest that they have the only/better way of navigating the festival, as we’ve seen in this thread.

Not really any bigger than the actual trio we have.

Probably better rather than bigger. But I reckon it would get a better reaction. It looks way better on paper I feel and I probably wouldn't see Stevie either.

I think vs a year with a headliner of no apparent new music and a phone in for Michael it would look stronger.

I haven't seen the whole thread, but it's a shame if people think they know best etc!  I think it's important to be respectful of other people's tastes.   Guns n' Roses was a dream booking for me in 2023... I knew there'd be a fair amount of people who wouldn't want to go watch them, but that didn't make it a bad booking, or the "wrong" booking, as some suggested.

Like you said earlier... the headliner bookings for 2022 and 2023 were the exception, not the norm.  And there simply aren't that many legendary universally-loved world-class acts anyway.  Who's left that's never played?  Madonna? Queen + Adam Lambert?  I guess Taylor Swift, but she's very current in my mind! LOL!  And Oasis haven't played Glasto in so long that they'd be a huge headliner booking for sure.

So... as for me... for the second year running I won't be seeing any of the three Pyramid headliners.  Am I disappointed?  A little perhaps... but I really don't mind as I'll have fun elsewhere - probably at Avalon or Acoustic!

Ive been going since 2013 and only seen 4 Pyramid headliners,  and 2 first couple of songs and then left.

Unless I really like the act i can not be bothered being in the crowd at the Pyramid - and the number of acts I really like that are the right size to headline the Pyramid is not that many.  I always gravitate towards whatever act is most to my current mood and preferences.

saying this id love to give O-Rod a chance this year but I can almost guarantee The Maccabees or Prodigy or something else will win that battle -  Most likely a work shift lol.

I don't mind being in crowds, but I absolutely detest working through crowds.  Main reason I've never been in / near the pit for a Pyramid headliner, as to realistically manage my own issues there I'd need to be working my way down the front one or two acts beforehand and camping out.  And that's something I have no desire to do, partly because I want to minimise dead standing around time and partly because it's incredibly rare to have a run of bands on one stage that I want to see that much.

Maybe one day.

Oh yeah -, of the two I left early -  I was literally just on edge of the crowd as I knew I was going elswhere my mates wanted to get in so I left them just so I did not have a difficult bale out.

I was convinced to get right in amongst it for Little Simz last year and it was great - though getting out prior to Coldplay was horrible. I do wonder if the young lad who passed me half way though sims on his way back to find his mate near the front carrying two plate of food above his head though a dense crowd ever made it lol.   He described it a  massive tactical error.

Absolutely hate them all with a passion that burns like fire. FFS imagine singing Do Ya Think I’m Sexy at his age.

Reminds me of that time Ian Brown toured with just a backing tape a few years ago.

I endured his warbling at Leeds around the time of Unfinished Monkey Business and I can assure you the backing track wasn't the off-putting part

Yeah I've heard the singing wasn't exactly top notch.

So... leave you feeling something like this?
