is there any chance we might get basement jaxx but in a non headline slot ?.

I guess so. They were originally rumoured to headline West holts on the Friday. They still may do, just left off the 1st poster for some reason.

They used bins/fences to close off the entrance by Leftfield, even had a few stewards in the woods to stop people cutting through from by The Glade.

Issue was with the other side, how do you block off Oxlyers?

I came from Woodsies (Alvvays) to try and get to my wife who was in Avril but the crowds made it nigh on impossible to get through along the main route and we got directed by stewards to either turn back or the only alternative was into Oxlyers itself. Felt for those camping as while we kept to path many didn't tripping over tents etc.  I ended up stopping to talk to a cple of lads who offered me to stand and listen from their tent (ironically them being Liverpool season tckt holders who were prompted by my Man Utd tshirt in a typical Glasonbury moment, but I digress!) . After a bit I went round and ended up along the hedgerow and tried to get in to wait for my wife in the Soltice bar but stewards/police had it all blocked off. I went round and through the Glade with no probs but by then it was towards the end of the set and I sat outstide Soltice with a cider for the last song. Could see why stewards/police were a bit panicked on the Oxlyers side as it was v.crowded. But I think most could see that and turned back or just stayed where they were to at least listen....

I've got to admit, I've known of The Maccabees for ages but I wouldn't be able to tell you even one of their songs or what style of music they play. I assume indie rock, but I could be wrong.

Indie is fair there first two albums are very indie and of the time but the final two move into much more art-rock & alternative direction and made them stand out from the crowd.  If you have never listened to Given To The Wild album its a masterpiece and must have run Alt-J close for the Mercury Prize that year.

To be honest I ran through this album recently and I'd listen to Heave and Feel To Follow but it's just Pelican in the main for me. I also wouldn't take Alt-J in with them as a good comparison lol and after giving them a quick listen now there are similarities so that might tell me a lot. Each to their own though.

Wasn't comparing them musically just stating the Maccabees album was nominated fir the mecury prize the year Alt J won it.

I thought that's just rumoured placement? They could well be, I'm just hoping for Basement Jaxx as not got a Friday headliner as yet.

BJ were so heavily rumoured and the WH headliners seem so unclear, I'm allowing myself to believe it's coming 😂😅

Wonder how many more acts are yet to be announced for the main stages? Must be a fair few names to come yet.

Yeah, a smattering for each main stage I imagine.

Think Rod will comfortably have the biggest crowd of the weekend. Don't think any of the headliners will have huge crowds, even despite a dearth of appeal on the Friday night. Think there will be a healthy spread across the site.

Surprised that people think Alanis Morissette will get a huge crowd, didn't think she was particularly popular.

Im surprised Rod would get a big crowd. I could name one song and sing none. A dinosaur no one under 40 would give a hoot about. He will still get a big crowd, for some reason, but is the worst legend booking in years for me.

Alanis is elder millenial catnip. As are weezer. See also avril last year and neither have ever played in the 18 years ive been going. Alanis crowd will be massive as well as unlikely to have mega clashes against her.

No. If they were playing they’d be announced. A full live show doesnt really work on glade. And they wouldnt not headline a stage really.

both basement jaxx and underworld could be filed alongside pulp and chappell as touring this year but inexplicably not booked.

imagine it falls to them not liking the slot offered and / or the fee offered - i can imagine all 4 being somewhat peeved by slot and fee offers they dont need to accept as all large & established artists that dont need the tv coverage.

I agree. When faithful did the glade I imagine if we're outside that tent it wouldn't be great.

I also look at Basement Jaxx other bookings and the usual Glastonbury crossover and I don't see it, especially with latitude and Snow Patrol and FBS being announced.

I wrote this on the day the poster came out….

Here’s the difference between the poster and final line-up in terms of numbers of acts…,

PYRAMID - 21 ACTS - 17 ON POSTER

OTHER - 24 ACTS - 15 ON POSTER

WEST HOLTS - 24 ACTS - 18 ON POSTER

WOODIES - 26 ACTS - 19 ON POSTER

PARK - 28 ACTS - 19 ON POSTER

= 123 MAIN STAGE ACTS IN TOTAL - 88 ON POSTER + 7 ACTS ON OTHER STAGES (Glade / Lonely Hearts etc)

Today's poster has 95 acts, same as last time.  The four Pyramid Stage acts missing from the poster last year were the first acts on each time - Squeeze / Femi Kuti / Seasick Steve / Interlinked Birmingham Ballet.  But that's not to say that we won't have a Churnups-style TBA on the Pyramid this year, as in 2023.

So chances are, for this year, we are awaiting 4 Pyramid acts, and 6-9 acts on the other stages.  The number missing from The Park line-up last year is a little deceptive because they had things like a Joe Wicks fitness class on there (which I've included in the 28).
