Ahh man don't go getting my hopes up like that

Sorry.  But if I'm getting over excited about conclusions based on speculation and conjecture that have less than a 1% chance of happening, I'm taking all you bastards down with me.  Strap in. 😉

Didn't they do that slot quite recently though? That or my life is racing by and the years are all blurring together...

2014 IIRC?  So not that recent.  Easily due another go.

My problem with Tool mainly is their die-hard fanbase (which probably doesn't encompass anyone on here) who think all music is inferior to it because Tool are sooooo complex. And if people don't like it it's because they're not smart enough to 'get it'.

Doesn't this equally apply to anyone who thinks this about any artist. Aren't these supposed die hard tool fans the same as the equivalent Swift and Eminem fans?

'who think all music is inferior to it because Tool are sooooo complex. And if people don't like it it's because they're not smart enough to 'get it'.' I think this is a strawman I don't think I've ever heard anyone say this about any artist in any medium

Not saying it's exclusive to Tool fans, we were just discussing Tool so I raised it. I also quote commented my own post and said the same could be said about Radiohead. And yes I have heard people say that about artists, Tool being one of them. I'm talking about specific die-hards, not you, so calm down.

I am calm. I just don't believe die-hards would say that, I am not asking for proof though

That's fine. I did say it was a throwaway comment however, and don't need lecturing/debate on it.

Tool fan here, sadly the fanbase is notorious for this sort of person although I think they've quietened down a lot in the 13 year gap between albums.

Bit like Rick and Morty. Good show with some insanely obnoxious fans who think anyone who doesn't like it are too stupid to understand it. None of whom are worth paying any attention to anyway and it's all besides the point, Tool ain't playing Glastonbury. Too big for anything but Pyramid but far far too niche. Half the people at Download Sunday didn't even know who they were (and the other half were Tool fans).

Going forward should we indicate all throwaway comments by saying 'throwaway comment' at the bottom so others on the forum know not to reply or discuss the comment?

Honestly neither Tool nor Radiohead are that pretentious, the diehard fans are. "Tooljerk" is a thing for a reason.

I see more people complaining about Tool fans being pretentious, than Tool fans being pretentious.

All the comments on their videos are just people saying meme-y things.

What is your problem? It's a throwaway comment about a band I think are naff. We all have bands on here we don't like. I'm not saying it's right. I don't mind someone commenting on it but you're going on and on about it, all I said is that they were a bit pretentious!

Yeah, I think in the 13 year wait between albums a lot of that stuff died down but the memes remained.

The main bullshit now is the absolutely grim poster market/scene, but that's an easy one to ignore generally.

I am sorry that I've annoyed you. I didn't set out to do so but I do think my comments where relevant and valid

@Mezhyp1 has mentioned in the electronic thread that he’s been told Fred Again is headlining this. I was very much expecting him to be on Holts, but I guess given how fast he’s gone from nothing to household electronic name it’s not too surprising that they’d give him the big gig given he’ll undoubtedly fill the field.

So, The Prodigy, Fred Again, QOTSA for this then (in that order, imo) if we’re going off our best guesses?

That seems the most likely in my head however someone mentioned Sam Smith too (plus again lack of female acts).  But yeah… I’d go with it

Wasn’t there some info that Fred Again will be joined by Skrillex and Four Tet, Skrillex alone could easily headline other, although I guess all three together would be more likely to be on Arcadia? (With Fred on other on his own and them maybe popping up as guests)

    • belated thanks for this ended up going, was a good evening and a great venue with a cracking beer selection (give the festival a few tips on that). Never been in before despite reasonably local.       Main takeaways from the film (as someone who didnt go for much later). The festival has changes a lot since then apart from the Green Fields that looked the exact same.  Me and my mate both agreed that Shambala is today than Glastonbury.   Cool piece of merch aswell.
