Other stage headliner or too big maybe? Have any Pyramid subs gone on to headline the other stage the following year?

We'll have many other acts available for an other headline slot. Why keep it stale and book Fender again? Pointless

Fender was originally 3rd or 4th down wasn't he until he got bumped up after doja cat dropped out. He'd be an other headliner now, or a weak pyramid headliner

He also played this year, he doesn't need to be re-booked for next year. I imagine he'll headline in a few years so no need for him now.

Do people think bring me the horizon will make an appearance? Not sure where they’d play given they seem set as headliners at other festivals now

They headlined JP in 2019 and i don't think it was that well attended. Probably another year before they come back, they just don't have their fanbase at glasto i think is the general consensus.

Download isn't marked as an exclusive so wonder what else they are up to

Yeah the lack of download exclusive is what made me think they could make an appearance.

Feel other stage headliner or sub/3rd on pyramid is the least they’d expect now but like you say they’d pull a much weaker crowd compared to other options. Shame cos they’ve really stepped up the live shows recently

Pretty sure they were on the Other clashing with Kylie in 2019

The didnt headline the JP, they played on the Other stage at 3pm on the Sunday - the crowd was ok, similar to Babymetal who played just before them. Having seen them at Reading this year, they are big enough to headline the Other stage in my view now., especially with the Sigrid/Ed SHeeran collaborations which has made them more mainstream

Would love to see them headline other but seeing as prodigy seem pretty set and then one of QOTSA/Paramore too I can’t see them having bring me there too. Not to say they wouldn’t be capable tho, something tying in with the tenth anniversary of sempiternal would be great

True. Maybe 2024 if everything flals into place. Might have to get a Friday only Download ticket to see them there!

Metallica and Slipknot aren't listed as exclusives either are they? I don't think it means anything they've just chosen not to use the silly 'exclusive' tag for their acts playing.

The Prodigy on the other stage hopefully.

The Prodigy will get a very big crowd I would think. The crowd was pretty big against Blur and since they've been away a while and the sad passing of Keith I think a lot of people will be up for it.

To be honest given the lack of competitive festivals in their genre, I'm not sure there'd really be any benefit to Download paying extra for an exclusive - there's not many UK festivals that could and would even book Metallica, BMTH, or Slipknot in a headline position. Basically someone who wants a weekend full of hard rock and metal has to either go to Download, or accept much smaller names at Bloodstock/wherever, or go abroad. It's not like the years where Sonisphere was providing genuine competition for them.

So they can just book the acts on a non-exclusive basis - and they may well end up getting a defacto exclusive anyway.

WTF?

I didn't realise they hadn't toured since 2016. Did some googling and it seems they are rumoured to be back in Europe next year. If Glastonbury can just talk them down to playing for cheap and not bring their own stage we're onto a winner. This is the curve ball we needed. Not some twat in a top hat.

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
    • I'd say the same about Kylie.    Annie would be awesome, Duran not so much, and on the issue of them wanting a beanie slot, that probably rules out a fair few others who I think would fit the bill very well... and are legitimately more entitled to a headline, and/or too expensive.   Was just about to suggest Chaka Khan, but see @Gnomicide has beat me to it!    What about someone like Bryan Ferry?
