It does blow my mind what AC/DC requested from Download when they played:

we're taking our own stage and completely changing your site map as a result. Nobody else is playing on this stage. And nobody else is playing when we're playing. You cant use our logo on any of the the merchandise, even though we're headlining. Oh and we want ten gajillion pounds and a set of Scots pipers in our changing rooms. And bright red m&m's with little devil horns on, ofc.

 

At Glastonbury it'll be here's a two hour slot on the pyramid, we'll do you some cheese butties, and Joe Rush has bunged some horns on the side of the stage made out of Holden Commodore Utes!

Basically a lot of anniversaries, a promoter promising them they could basically take over the festival for the day with their own production, and some dumb luck. Plus money, you’ve got to assume a lot of money

Listening to the Blonde Ambition Wembley show today and the live band is so so good.

I mean....he does outline the thinking:

 

"The ‘Celebration Tour’ will use the singer’s original multi-track recordings, and Madonna won’t be joined by a live band onstage for the first time since the start of her career.

“There are live musicians that perform at different parts of the show,” Price said. “But what we realised is that the original recordings are our stars. Those things can’t be replicated and can’t be recreated, so we decided just to embrace that.”

 

Clearly an artistic decision, for better or worse and not an Ian Brown cost-saving opportunity.

I guess.  But that would be the case regardless of whether or not there's a band there.

At any rate, if this is a true greatest hits show - as seems the case - then this is the one we want her to finally show up at Glastonbury with.
