I hadn't noticed that M83 had moved. That's really interesting. I wonder what the thinking behind that was?

I genuinely wonder if the M&S day tickets are selling so poorly that they decided to move M83 forward to try and attract local fans as day visitors who wouldn't come if they were playing at 12.30am (work the next day) but might come down if they're on earlier?

I am just guessing. M83 has a very tight schedule that weekend with Fest Festival in Poland on Friday, Grape Festival in Slovakia on Saturday, and Sziget on Sunday. Maybe their logistics team needed to have it before midnight so that they will arrange their schedule to be in France on Monday-Wednesday for some other events and get ready for La Route de Rock on Thursday and Pukkelpop and Lowlands on next weekend.

One of the things the passport states is:

Permitted items - food (non-commercial quantities) and soft drinks (in a max 2.5 liter PET bottle).

Is this new? I have never realised you could take your own food in!

I assume the soft drink container needs to be sealed?

The food thing is not new, last 4 times I went to Sziget I would buy food at Lidl before entering or just make something for myself at home and bring it with me.

And the drink container doesn't need to be sealed. One time I had a plastic bottle which was half empty and the policewoman gave me a weird look and gave me my bottle back. I assume she thought that I had alcohol in it but she didn't care to check it 🤷‍♂️. But if you have a bottle that's open with you they will most probably open it and check it.

I have a question regarding buying tickets over ticketswap. I know it the official festival partner... but how safe it is? Did anyone have any experience with buying tickets from there? How does it work? Did it happen that someone got scamed or that they weren't let in at the festival? Any advice is welcomed

I've bought concert tickets over ticketswap multiple times and it worked for me every time. It generates a new barcode/qr code for the existing ticket and voids the previous one.

It’s completely safe. Once I bought a ticket which turned out to be fake/sold multiple times and they immediately called me and refunded the ticket. They cooperate with festivals and promoters and each ticket should be checked and get a new barcode/QR code.

For Sziget yes, Punk Rock Holiday also. But 99% others events don’t have “SecureSwap ticket” option (screenshot below).

This year happened on Graspop that many people bought tickets on ticketswap and when they came to the festival, they had fake tickets or someone used it before them.

Two weeks to go. Who are your top five "do not miss" acts of 2023? Mine are, in no particular order:

1. Foals

2. Sam Fender

3. Confidence Man

4. Nothing But Thieves

5. Lorde

I feel that might be a bit 'vanilla' so hope others can recommend acts I'm not au fait with.

Sleaford Mods

Viagra Boys

Bonobo

Azzecca

Loyle Carner

I've been listening to Loyle Carner all this morning, following his Mercury Music Prize nomination. He's far, far better than I'd previously given him credit for. He's definitely on my list now.

Anybody also disappointed from lacking any good names in EDM? In previous years Party Arena was packed with great names and now every day is themed into different genres.

Do you consider it better like this?

I really like the themed thing. This year will have amazing names, specially Tale of Us

Tale of Us show will be definitely great, Diplo will be fun too. But I miss these usual Balaton names.

These hardstyle days are kind of hardcore

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
    • Blink-182 / Avril Lavigne / Good Charlotte / Neck Deep    Lamb of God / Malevolence      System Of A Down / Five Finger Death Punch / Skindred / Godsmack   Motionless In White / Poppy      Deftones / Gojira / Knocked Loose / President    Sabaton / Amon Amarth
