Where as I love those albums and continuously revisit them, as well as holding plenty of special tour memories. That's what makes music great, it's subjective.

There could be plenty of reasons why the time is now to disband, or whatever it is.

You're right, there could be. He's only 40 though.

If I had a gun to my head - I'd say musical differences.

All made for life, and Alex probably wants to try something new. I'd like to hope so anyway, he's far too talented/creative to disappear into the sunset at this point.

I don’t think they’ll announce any split. They’ll just fade off into the ether and that way it leaves it open. A bit like Radiohead, I guess. Them coming back last year was treated as a reunion by a lot of people even though they never officially went anywhere, they were just inactive for a prolonged period.

Say AM take 8-10 years away and come back, that’ll be the one reunion that we have left that’ll come close to Oasis levels (I don’t think we will ever see anything exactly like that again. Even Led Zep wouldn’t be that big, even though that’s never going to happen).

I have some great memories of this band and they were my absolute favourite for a number of years. Humbug and Suck It And See was their peak for me (I type whilst wearing my SIAS tour tee I got 15 years ago).

Yeah I agree. Be amazed if anything was officially announced

it gives me Humbug and The Car vibes but who cares. I love it!

my favourite band by a country mile and dropping something as good as this just makes me even more sad that we’re not getting a new album any time soon.

edit - the guitars remind me of She Does The Woods

Nah not for me, I was waiting for it to just get going. I didn't really expect to like it though, just a bit boring. I get the Humbug Vibes and I got into that album much later but all the singles on that are better than this. One of the their best songs is on that album actually.

It's a perfectly fine track. I can see why it didn't make it onto an album.

Apparently it's not a Car or AM offcut, but sounds like it was written in the last year or so guessing the by the press release.

I guess we'll see more of these stories as to how long the song ideas are knocking around. Foals put out a thing saying Yannis wrote the core lyrical idea of their song in 2019, but it's only just now it's found a home with this project.

I listened to the new song. It's alright. Has some nice layering without grabbing me. Might listen again.

Conflicting views on this one for me .. I actually really like it, it’s stuck in my head and I’ve given it lots of listens already, whilst at the same time I don’t actually think it’s a good song at all! 🤷‍♂️

Little conflicting lol. I've never felt a need to replay it.

Been on repeat for 24 hours for me. It's actually catchy and has some guitars unlikely most of their last 2 albums. Hoping naively that this sparks something from them going forward.

Tbf, Helders framed their interviews in such a way to say that they still like spending time with one another and could yet reunite.

Maybe we'll see if this has unlocked some kind of creative spark to come back a year or two down the line.
