that's for the 10th to the 19th of December.

Pretty paltry rise and even that is likely driven by incidentals as much as real covid illness.

Do you not think this is because people have altered their behaviour so as not to be isolating over Christmas rather than something intrinsic within Omicron which means it spikes and falls quickly?

It does mirror SA though. I think the falls are too high to be accounted by testing limitation. behaviour could be a factor, but then if it slows things down to get more boosters in, who cares?

Here they invented new rules from 27th december onwards for omicron -

indoor events - up to 500 only 2xvaccinated allowed

up to 1000 2xvaccinated and tested

up to 2000 3xvaccinated and tested.

curfew until next year 10pm -

travel restrictions to UK, NL, Denmark and Norway - you have to be 3xvaccinated and tested to travel with quarantine

and on top all unvaccinated can meet for christmas-time (they call it amnesty), but then are forced to get vaccinated

(or pay up to 3.000 pounds) as it becomes mandatory.

This is all mental and I really get tired of all this shit.

Tomorrow is important as thats when we get info on what proportion of admissions are those already in hospital for something else who then contract Covid vs those who are hospitalised because of Covid. Given Omicrons higher transmissibility, this will probably mean that the proportion of those who catch it while in hospital will be higher than for previous variants, which should help make the picture a little clearer

I'm absolutely spun by the amount of sense being talked by @Barry Fish today. There comes a point where we have to do something, we probably aren't there yet and hopefully we won't ever be but if we do get to that stage then proper restrictions and proper support is essential.
