Forgot to do the annual run down of the runners and riders...

Favourites: Blur, Radiohead, David Bowie and The Rolling Stones all delivered sets that were universally loved and should all progress deep into the competition. Beyonce is another who was widely loved, and of course this being an eFests hurt/heal game one can never rule out The Chemical Brothers.

Dark Horses: Despite not actually playing the festival yet Taylor Swift's announcement was hugely popular and fresh from last year's chicken-based interference could go well again. Stormzy's 2019 set was considered both great and ground-breaking, as was Adele. Another act to watch out for is The Levellers who would a large cult following among the eFests faithful.

Early fallers: It's impossible to see any support for either Ed Sheeran or Rod Stewart and both are expected to leave early, perhaps even day one. Gorillaz were widely panned after their set and Mumford & Sons have never been a popular pick. Oasis are another who performed badly on the Pyramid, but their enduring popularity should see them go reasonably far.

The chickens sure are getting a lot of shit in this thread, the people rallied to the call to bring Swift down a peg or two after relentless sustained targeting of Editors.  It was more than chickens it was a movement.

That will only take a very small number of Editors fans. Which is lucky because that's all they have.

As an aside I do always find this a fascinating process, especially as a snapshot of how people work and view the world.  At its core, do you support the things you love or degrade the things you don't?

Good point - I would usually support the things I love and not concern myself with those I don't, but in Sheeran's case I have to make an exception 😄

I know ol' Steady Eddie isn't the most popular performer on efests, but I'm genuinely amazed at how quickly he's heading out the door when proper stinkers like Rod and Mumford & Sons are getting away unscathed.

Even knowing the reputation of those two gigs, I'd still choose them over Ed. At least they'd be interesting as opposed to just being.... there.

Trust me, Mumford wasn't interesting. Never seen that many people leaving the field midway through a set.

Their song is a decent song. Just wish they'd written more than one.

Don't get me wrong, I'll freely admit that I liked them at the start. Thought they did a banging job in JPT after their first album came out, had enough songs for a small set like that. Had a great time.

On the big stage with a longer set, there was soooooo much filler. Proper snooze fest.

Yup - the same song for 2 hours would get very boring.

Also, I think it's just that the crosshairs/eye of Sauron is on Ed at the moment. Rod, Mumford etc's time will come...

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
