Of the ten leeds festivals I went to the three sets that spring to mind are Weezer 2010, At the drive in 2012 and Metallica 2015. Honourable mention to Klaxons in 2007.

Impossible to narrow down to just one but stand outs are probably

2009 - FOB

2010 - Weezer

2011 - Pulp

2012 - The Cribs

2013 - Biffy

2014 - AM

2015 - The Wombats

Not really been too impressed since I guess aha

Greenday Secret Set 2012. 11am, NME stage. Ran back to get my band tee on. Straight in. Unreal.

I know of someone who got a last minute day ticket after they teased it on radio earlier in the week, saw GD, then immediately left.

They lucked out that one perfectly well.

madness. worth it IMO

Bet it was. Gotta love having those crazy experiences.

I had an experience not far off when I got a ticket at very short notice to see them at Brixton Academy the year after in the week before their Reading slot, but only after I'd had my phone stolen on my way out from Franz Ferdinand at Brixton Electric the night before and nearly lost faith in the idea of going full stop. Precious memories one and all.

Some of my R&L favourites:

Kings of Leon 2009 - Had seen them the previous December after OBTN was released, and the new setlist just didn’t quite work ... at Leeds they were incredible

Lethal Bizzle 2009 - just crazy

Kassidy 2010 - FR tent, first band of the day, hardly anyone there ... was absolutely amazing. Really gutted they didn’t kick on and become huge.

Crystal Castles 2011 - I’ve seen them more than anyone else. Jane’s Addiction pulled out so CC effectively headlined the NME (they didn’t put anyone in to replace so no one played after CC’s sub slot). Alice Glass was a fucking warrior.

Justice 2012 - been dying to see them again ever since

Eminem 2013 - probably the best gig of my life

Mura Masa 2017 - was just an awesome party

outside of R&L:

Rudimental @Wildlife 2016

Foals/Adele @Glastonbury 2016

Foals @Ynot 2019

    • I’ve said it elsewhere too but Emily Eavis said a 2028 headliner was booked, to me that’s only going to be someone the size of Oasis or Taylor Swift
    • Christ didn't even see that!
    • It does feel very bland. It would certainly spell another year (my third, I think) away from Pyramid headliners for me. That doesn't mean they aren't worthy, though. I don't follow what any of them are up to, as it isn't my thing. Good luck to them.   You would think coming off a fallow year, they would want one big hitter. 'Big hitter' is obviously open to debate, but that was/is Madonna. Let's have it right. The eggs have gone in that basket, and it seems (as far the rumours go) that it's blown up. So now you're left with another plan B/replacement headliner.   I'm still of the opinion that Oasis will do it, before the Oasis thing is all said and done. Probably 2028, if they can come to an agreement. It may transpire that 2027 is bland (or at least to some of us), and 2028 is a bit... wild.   Again, though, none of us categorically know ANY of the headliners, as it stands.
