Are there really people who don't have a lenor bottle (or similar) in their tents?

i never used to ... but it makes it so much easier these days .... I've also used it when traffic queues have meant then need for some relief

Glad I wasn’t on your bus.

Women..?

Unless anyone can recommend something that is guaranteed not to cause a mess?

I think most women I camp with have some kind of in-tent weeing option.  Maybe it's an age thing, we're all old and have to wee in the night regardless of whether you've been drinking all day or not!

Could you find out what it is? Or would that be a weird thing to ask?

I often find myself trekking to the toilets at 6am and it's miserable.

We do if we buy a Shewee.

I like the idea of a shewee but they just weren't for me! Carrying it around (gross) and by the time you've messed around maneuvering in a tent to pee into a bottle with it you might as well trudge down the hill surely? (as rubbish as it is!)

Tbh I have a shewee but rarely use it - I never find the loos too rank but I carry it round, just in case!  I have a ziplock plastic bag to carry it in, and wipe it before it goes back in if I do use it.  I don't think that's particularly gross (at worst it's only a couple of drops of pee in an enclosed bag) but I am probably just a mucky cow! Luckily for me, I have a bladder the capacity of  an elephant so almost never get up in the night to pee - I don't think I ever have at a festival.  But if I did, I might consider using it in the night.

For me it’s never needing to get up in the night, more waking up with piss panic absolutely desperate to go cos I’ve probably been unconsciously holding it in all night.

I must say, this is adding a real je ne sais quoi to this chicken salad I’m eating as I type.

I can't guarantee the mess thing cos even men with their handy piddling appendages have errors of judgement, but this and a bottle see me through.

Incontence pads. Guaranteed to absorb up to a litre and can be spread out to catch any miss aiming due to over indulgence.  Dispose of discreetly in normal waste bin. As a man I still prefer the lenor option.  Nothing like waking up to find a bottle of well matured urine next to your sleeping bag!

To change the subject from pissing,  a good idea is to have a plastic picnic plate in your back pack. When eating a takeaway sit it on the plate, prevents soggy chip wrappers from dripping grease everywhere. Especially with the move away from certain types of polystyrene containers

I'll follow that up with if you can be organised enough to carry a spork it's an absolute joy after putting up with those stamped out wooden efforts that flatten as you use them

I always carry a 'bag fork', those wooden things set my teeth on edge.

Take a mess tin! Can cook in it and eat straight from it too!
