A few good games recently yeah but hes been utterly woeful at times too. Utd need someone better in there with Pogba to challenge for the league. Matic will be off too. And Sanchez. pink_triangle
A lot of discussion this weekend about how lucky Liverpool are with goalkeeping errors, I think that is more than countered by the good luck their title rivals have in terms of being able to spend significantly more money building a team/squad. Luck has a lot to do with any success, City had there’s 10 years ago with there owners. You deserve luck if you keep going for the winner, Liverpool could of quite easily settled for the point but they went for the win. Some of the greatest achievements have a lot of luck. For example the treble season, if bergkamp scored that own in the semi. If Ruud van vistlerooy scored that pen in Arsenal’s undefeated season. kaosmark2
Goalkeeping errors don't happen if you don't attack. I've no belief that that is raw luck. Liverpool are obviously going to force more keeping mistakes than a mourinho team.

You can make a case for and against literally every team with regards to luck. Arsenal's invincible season for instance would have looked far different if they hadn't drawn their fifth game of the season 1-1 against Portsmouth after coming from 1-0 down thanks to Pires diving for an Arsenal penalty. Or the 'luck' of Fulham's defenders being shit that gifted City their goals at the weekend? The lucky convo is one started by City fans who want to pretend that only they would be worthy winners of the league. And of course if City win the league it'll be all about how Liverpool bottled it - and yet there's almost no-one who didn't think City would be the league winners before the season started. For no other reason than them having the best squad by far. The real story is that Liverpool are running them closer than anyone thought would happen. Big teams get refereeing decisions, which is inherent official bias rather than luck. But forced errors aren't a thing of luck, it's about skill and attacking threat (both psychological and actual). Liverpool have been extremely fortunate in relation to dodgy decisions, lucky breaks and injuries to their key players. Yet that is not their fault. They have rode their luck and still find themselves in a position where they can win the league. They have made the best of the opportunities that have presented themselves. If City win the league though and I think they should, it will make the achievement all the sweeter.

They were just those Fulham players being shit, with City able to pounce and take advantage. But anyway I'm merely pointing out that the 'luck' convo is only about one particular team, when even your comment says it's the 'big teams' and not just one of them. It's not one team getting all the luck. Go check the Wolves goal against us that was clearly handball, which was not given. Have Liverpool not had over 10 goals in the league given that were quite clearly offside? If City do not win the league this season they only have themselves to blame. They have quite easily been the best team in the league. We could whinge about Liverpools luck all day long and there is no escaping the fact they have been ridiculously fortunate. Yet if Mahrez had scored that penalty then it would be game over now I reckon. It will not be Liverpools good fortune that costs us the league, but rather our own ineptitude from 12 yards out. I still expect City to win the league though. Edited April 2, 2019 by eastynh

True enough, but Fulham have a league 1 quality defence. Hence why they're going down despite having a great forward line. I do think City fans whining about luck is outdated nonsense. Someone is always going to have the most money. For the record, Liverpool spent far more money than City last season. City would not be in the position they are in without money, neither would united and Liverpool are not actually paupers in that respect. Only Spurs are over achieving in what they have spent on the squad, I certainly can't see the top 6 changing much over the coming seasons.
