Saw them last night in Manchester. Not for the first time by any means but probably the most I've enjoyed them. They've beefed up the sound with an extra guy playing synth and there were a lot of tunes that segued really well from one to another in the first half of the show. Unless something comes from left field when the final line up is released they nailed themselves on as my Sunday night. Can imagine that being a proper party atmosphere and excellent way to sign off the festival.

Is the 'extra guy playing synth'  Gabe Stebbing who used to be in the band & has spent the past 2 years in Christine & The Queens? He was on the radio with them the other day

Metronomy were victims of an Arcade Fire clash in 2014, and will probably fall foul of Justice this year dammit!

Missed a good set, as even though we managed to squeeze in William's green the night before we still sacked off Arcade fire to see the band we live instead :D

This is the set I'm looking forward to most I think. I have the highest expectations of Radiohead but part of me feels my expectations are so high they might not be met.

Really hope Corinne makes the cut for a shorter festival set.

I was at the Albert Hall and really enjoyed the gig, thought the setlist was good overall, but the gig seemed far too short, in my opinion, I don't think they even managed 90 mins. I didn't check the exact time they came on but it must have been about 9:15 and I was one of the last few out of the building at 10:38. It's a shame really as they have 5 albums. For those expecting a major cut to the setlist I doubt much will go - Are they likely to be JP Headliners? They get what? 70 mins? 75 mins? It shouldn't mean much is shortened although they may swap stuff out.

I enjoyed the support too - Klyne. They had a real Michael Jackson vibe. I'd try and catch them if they make the full poster.

it's not Gabe, it's Micheal Lovett http://cargocollective.com/michaelstebbinglovett/Metronomy

I thought it was the guy from NZCA Lines but couldn't be bothered to check so nice one :)

Nope can't get the media to upload no idea why I'm new to this site, it was their Williams Green set list from 2014 which we have framed

Here you go: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/metronomy/2014/worthy-farm-pilton-england-53c1a7d5.html

The ultimate Glasto Metronomy setlist was the 'Jacko' set in the Queens Head (remember that?) in 2009, when word spread of his death just before they went on stage. The world was a very different place after that. I'll never forget that night. The live recording of that set is (or was) online.

I was at that. It was rammed and I was stood outside the tent. Unsurprisingly, no-one was paying attention to what the band were doing, mostly because you could barely hear let alone see, and were too busy discussing the plausibility of the Jacko rumour. Good times.

We managed to get in there, but we had to endure whatever the hell was on before. Twas rammed and boiling though, a proper gig. Good times indeed.

Nice one, was it anything special/change in sound or following on from summer08

Same. I think Metronomy are great, seen twice.

But edging towards Justice (until full lineup/options are known) as I haven't seen them previously, and don't tour the UK as extensively as Metronomy.

They were good tonight but not great. Sound was a bit patchy and I don't know if the setlist works that well. Justice are still winning the potential clash at the moment. Lately was good, lots of 80s synths, and hearing the new album was nice too. I've discovered that Hang Me Out To Dry is my new Metromomy banger.

I went to that Manchester gig the other night, and it was obviously an enjoyable gig, they're such a tight live band with an amazing sense of how to put on a good show, but I was a bit disappointed with so many Summer 08 songs being in there because they're just not the same sort of quality as Nights Out - Love Letters. I've seen them loads of times since Nights Out, and each time it's been an event, each time you could tell you were watching a really talented band, and I thought everything got better with each tour, with Love Letters being the real peak of their powers. The other night was really good and I'm glad I've spent the money, but I can't help but be a bit miffed when I've seen them do so much more. The crowd seemed really into it though, the new songs were definitely popular, and that helped things a long a lot, they sounded much better live than on the album. Everybody who goes to see them on JPT will have a lovely night, but I wouldn't expect the Hot Chip level of skills that the last tour seemed to be pointing towards.

I will say that I was pretty buzzed that My Heart Rate Rapid got played, I can't remember the last time I ever saw them play it, if ever.

was it my best gig? Well no, but still gonna see them at Glastonbury

Have was upset they didn't play usual closer You could easily have me... let's hope play it at Glastonbury  :D

Yeah pretty much this. I love Everything Goes My Way and it's a nice idea to give Anna her moment at the front, but it doesn't need to be the encore. Drop a couple of new album tracks for Heartbreaker/Radio Ladio/Holiday and it'd be a better show.

Yeah you basically hit the nail on the head. I've been watching Metronomy since Nights Out and I think this was my least enjoyable gig for those reasons. Justice are winning by a mile atm, and the hope that Metronomy will pull out a hits-laden setlist isn't enough to change my mind.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
