Wonder how many people were deflated for it being 10 songs and out.

Honestly, I came away from the show pretty disappointed - though others may well have had a great time. I don't have any desire to listen to this new album, aside from a re-listen to the IDLES track.

I was also very disappointed that they didn't round off with an encore of a few hits. People just paid £100 a ticket to watch them perform 12 songs they'd never heard before. If I was in the band's position, I'd have just rounded the night off with a 3 song encore of tracks from post-Plastic Beach

There's been a handful of genuinely terrific singles from them in recent years, but would argue it's been a while since they've had an album that felt harmonious.

I thought Cracker Island and Song Machine (vol1) were both really solid albums.  I doubt we'll ever get something quite as cohesive as Demon Days or Plastic Beach again, but the last two are both really good records, with barely any filler.

Yeah, that's a £50 show kind of setlist.  For 100 notes you expect to be properly entertained.

A show of all new material is challenging.  Surprised they didn't play a few known songs as an encore.  That's tough on the audience.  As mentioned didn't even need to be Clint Eastwood - Feel Good Inc - On Melancholy Hill.  Could have been a few latter period "hits".

Plastic Beach concert was great.  Almost every song greeted with a loud cheer.  UK top 40 hit in 2010 lolz Doncamatic has been erased from all existence 🙂

The big GORILLAZ letters were back though this time on a screen.

They didn't use the 2010 tour "idents" of the band locked in the dressing room, which was odd given the obvious attention to detail/call backs/easter eggs elsewhere.

Damon hardly said a word.  The chat online was that he hardly spoke at the s/t gig but he seems to have spoken loads in comparison.  These retrospectives appear to have been emotional and confusing for him.

I disagree. What we got for the 100 notes (actually 90) was a show by a notable band with an iconic frontperson supported by several professional musicians forming the choir and orchestra and a conveyer belt of famous cameos. Add to that the complex production and visuals. This was a cast of dozens and more behind the scenes.

I would agree with you if we were talking about a standard 3 or 4 member plug and play type band turning up and playing an entirely new album for full price. But this is more like a show you might see at the Albert Hall or an opera house.

I was at Blur’s Darren show at the Apollo, despite advertising it as that there were idiots in there moaning there were no classics and shouting “woo hoo” throughout. I heard no such dissent last night. Everyone around where I was seemed to be appreciating it.
