Enjoy CalGon, we've got a great weekend for it. Bonobo should be great, would have been keen to go for that but been looking for an opportunity to see the Car Seat lads for the best part of a year.

Looking forward to testing the theory that Nob and the lads are not just music to soundtrack a relaxing Radox bath and scented tealight session.

Loving the unexpected love for the Rev on the last page.

They just liked my tweet when I said hopefully see you at Glastonbury.

I love the way I now take tweet likes as Glastonbury confirmations! What have I become.

Ha!

More or less nerdy that I posted that whilst in Mothercare?

Well I'd say it depends whether you were wearing a bumbag at the time. And if so, how many bumbags.

I think Reverend and the Makers are one of those bands that favourites pretty much every tweet mentioning them, at least the positive ones. They're very active on Twitter.

Yeah I've noticed loads of bands do that. Or their record label does. Someone's actual job that... weird.

None bumbags, I'm afraid.

Errr, I think you'll find that the current state of the art in the prime universe are actually quantum torpedoes.

Ridiculous. Totally far fetched.

On topic. Grandaddy still haven't self-confirmed. I'm getting jittery.

On Thursday night my man attempted a fairly self aggrandising anecdote about Grandaddy's recent trip to Tel Aviv and how they felt really safe when they thought they were going to be terrified - and got shouted at by the audience about being boycott-breaking bawbags.

Saw them on the bandstand down near Williams Green couple years back. Great band. Looking forwards to a confirmation.

Got a direct response to my question Soma, looks like a self confirmation to me!

Having spent a fair amount of time living in semi-rural America this doesn't surprise me in the least tbh.

I don't think anyone held it against him, but his penny-drop moment when he realised that his story wasn't really playing that well was quite something to behold.

Like Elmer Fudd when he realises that it's the first day of Elmer Fudd hunting season.

Ah I don't have twitter. Hmmm could be any English festival though I suppose? If there was a big G or something I'd be saying it's a definite. Are there rams at Glastonbury??:P

It's a sheep on Twitter but shows as a ram on here. Odd. But anyway, the cow sways it :)

Well that's obviously because the set is going to be fucking RAMMED, like full of the hard ass motherfuckers who love Kodaline and only ever listen to Kodaline and will punch the fence right down to get to that set (I've actually never heard of this band before today like, I'm just throwing out suggestions what it might mean, keeping the discussion going).

They're basically a JP-sized Coldplay. Shiters.

An Irish Coldplay. They have played the Other stage before. Maybe they will again. The ram is still a ram on twitter by the way...

Must depend on what version you're running. I get this...

I put some serious research hours into that post before I made it, I thought maybe what if they turn out to be like a bunch of boundary-pushing edgelords, so I googled them and within about 5 seconds it was plain to see that they were pointless nobodies. Didn't even have to listen to any of their music, which is handy because that would've interrupted the satanic rite I'm doing right now to try to bring an Andre 3000 solo album into being.

    • Well he is on a rape charge, don't see that one as controversial.    Although Hakimi is in Morocco squad.
    • Electric Callboy just said they'll be touring here next year. I'm not sure there's a poster for it though. I'll look when I'm near some next.      He said we'll see you at Download at a gig before any of the band. Presumably he was trolling. They're in Austria at the moment and Germany tomorrow with a week's break and more shows in Germany. Whilst not impossible to come back here and then go over there again, it seems unlikely.
    • Thomas Partey, knocked back by Canadian immigration now.
    • I'm sure someone can update you on the clashfinder, and it will be pretty accurate by the time the festival comes around. It's a large flat-ish arena with main stage in the open air, no best side I'd say. Leadmill (3rd stage medium tent) is at the back of the main arena, T'Other (2nd stage big tent) 5 min walk round the corner. At full capacity walking around can take a bit more time though. I noticed that The Enemy are scheduled to not fully overlap with Wolf Alice, so you could catch part of their set too.   You can walk around anywhere with a beer, with most bars the usual mass market stuff, but one nice craft ale tent, back of the arena near the Leadmill stage. A main meal will set you back £10-15, but cheaper snacks also available. Expect a pint to be £7-8. Possibly a bit more this year as prices everywhere are increasing.   It's fairly easy to get to from the town centre using the tram, although can be busy at peak times / very busy at curfew. If you like a walk, it's approx 40 mins to Kelham Island (lots of indy venues) and probably an hour to the city, or catch an Uber. There will be loads of 'fringe' music events on around the city right through the weekend. Most are free. Have a wonderful trip, enjoy the festival, and your stay in our city!
    • I think people on a place like this, that clearly value live music more than most, don't. I'd rather an academy than an arena every day. But I could see a few people that care about "the gram" than the actual music wanting an arena experience even if it's a mid sized band.
