Well I've had a rather pleasant Monday. Was working weekend so had a day in lieu. Got clothes sorted for packing for New York cos working till we head to the airport hotel on Friday after work. Got all me sparklies out and ready for the big apple. Want her seeing me at my best.

And have just watched the Justin Timberlake concert on Netflix. Not a bad day. Just have to endure a few days at work then escape for a week with no mud involved. Hurrah!

Ooo how exciting, I love New York ... One of my favourite cities. Have you been before HMV ?

Never. Been meaning to go for years and never got round to it for one reason or another. So finally getting to go. Got The View revolving restaurant booked for our first night. I am very excited although worried I might be a bit tired to enjoy said view. But I find the excitement of being in a new place will always power you through.

It's come around quick! Have a great time dude ;)

Which made me think - we're a third of the way through the wait for next year's festival already!

I know.  The wait feels like forever at the time but feel like I've not got enough time to sort stuff now.

There for Halloween and hoping to join on the zombie parade in Greenwich village.  We've got costumes packs already. So excited.

You know that I said that me and my wife weren't going to go to Glastonbury next year - well that's no longer the case. Once my wife heard that Radiohead are playing she now wants to go to see them at all costs. She first heard the band when she was locked up in a psychiatric unit after having made a serious attempt at taking her own life. While in there here brother visited and gave her a cd of the band. She listened to it over and over and over again, and it got her out of the dark place where she was in.

I'd love for her to see the band live at Glastonbury, so any offers of help come the resales would be beyond fantastic. I, for one, would be eternally grateful as I'd love to make this experience come true for her.

Forgive me if you see this posted elsewhere, but I've just got to make this happen.

More than happy to pitch in on resale day Yog, would love to help get you and Mrs Yog to the farm next year.

@mr gumby excellent driftwood tree.  Where did you manage to find so many, er, phallic bits of wood?  Even the starfish looks like some dubious sex toy.

@H.M.V enjoy NY.  Zombie parade sounds brilliant.

Hope all of you are enjoying life and not being Manchestered on beyond reasonable sacrificial requirements.  Light is breaking through the clouds here.  Got youngest within 100m of school yesterday, which would have been  unthinkable a couple of months ago.  Fingers (well everything really) crossed that he can continue and actually be able to tolerate being on the school premises by Christmas.  Need to confirm it,  but I think I misread  the GCSE exam timetable and youngest's last exam is on Wed 21st rather than Friday 23rd June - so we can go to the ball, or at least more of it.  Maybe this time I'll be able to find you lot at the meet!

Morning folks and folkesses, hope everybody is doing well, it's been a week or 2 since I managed to get on here, as always real life gets in the way and I've had quite a bit on with work etc but blimey it's all kicked off hasn't it! Radiohead confirmed?!:o oh dear, that makes it even more important that I'm successful in the resale. The planning starts now!

Great to hear you're going to be there Yog, ticket gods permitting of course. I know you said you were giving it a miss this year but it really doesn't take much to pull you back over to the dark side does it! It would be fantastic for your wife to see Radiohead at glastonbury I'm sure.:)

In other news, I'm currently on the very sunny island of Cyprus for a short break, (certainly no Manchester here)! Wifi isn't brilliant but I'm slowly catching up on the  NFR pages and gossip that I've missed. I should be back online properly next week.

Have a good week,

Shaun.

If you're after a smartphone there's some pretty decent Android ones on the market which are cheap because they aren't a big brand. Have a look into a brand called Wileyfox and another called Oppo.

You may also be able to get an HTC for under £100 and sim free too.

Thanks both!

I am after a smartphone. I've seen a reconditioned Nokia lumia 650 for £80, but some of the reviews say the battery drains quickly, which puts me off a bit. I'll have a look at the lesser known brands, thanks sl :)

No problem @mr gumby. I would likely go with the Wileyfox Swift, great phone for the money. It manages a decent spec, downsides are things like the backlight is a tad bright when indoors and the auto brightness settings doesn't seem great at toning it down. It runs a different OS, CyanogenMod. It looks like Android but offers lots of customisation. Basically, you can ruin your phone quite easily if you don't know what your doing (most people don't faff with settings).

Both EE and Vodaphone also have their own smart phone models which are within your budget too. Vodaphone Smart Prime 7 is £75, as good as a Samsung / HTC. Comprises on thinks like the CPU and RAM, translates to it being a little bit slower than some of the high-end phones.

Sorry about the in-depth smart phone chat.

Have to say that as much as I like my HTC for the functionality, its battery life is pretty shocking.  But then my new office restricts music streaming through the laptop, so I'm burning through my phone as a music player.

Right, off to France for a training course.  Catch y'all in a few days!

I'm on my third (different) lumia, I really like them. I find the battery lasts well, but then I don't keep the wifi/location switched on!!

We need a 2015 pic of the Healing Fields for balance here. Ying & Yang and all that.

I shall visit this now, I have a headache tonight and various germs battling inside me. Hope everyone else is ok ( @Quark, don't be drinking too much red wine).
