We live in a world now though when there is only a handful of songs a year that are truly original... the other 95% of songs can be traced back to a different song, I don't get why people are just focusing on one person!

because the Marvin Gaye estate are cleaning up after the success of the Blurred Lines suit

Marvin Gaye's family have a long history of being wrong 'uns.

Well yeah that tell you why the Gaye family are focusing on him.. doesn't tell you why everyone else in the public are getting so annoyed about him and why people are getting so annoyed about him potentially headlining

well just a month or so ago another lawsuit was filed against him for plagiarising another song (which to my ears he definitely did) so starts to look a little suspicious when there's more than one, and about potentially headlining? people, especially long time attendees, are always gonna have a problem when something different than your meat and potatoes rock band headline, especially when it falls so far in to the pop category. i don't like Sheeran but think he has every right to headline - others take a slightly different stance on this

Surprised nobody's mentioned this...

Having heard the two songs in question, they certainly have a point.

yep just mentioned this a few comments up. the Marvin Gaye one is questionable, but this one sounds like a pretty direct rip off, whether intentional or not

Imagine the almighty onslaught of jams that Marv could have brought to the Legends Slot.

* sighs *

Why would you even say that?  Pyramid Stage on a sunny Sunday tothe sounds of What's Going On...

Always worth a post when Marvin is mentioned.

His estate are taking the piss a bit aren't they? Didn't they sue Pharrell too? Hopefully no one goes back through the Marvsters catalogue and finds similarities between earlier songs. Which they would do.

It depends on whether the copyright holders of those songs are already rich enough to take the matter to court.

Someone from Wes Montgomerys or James Browns estate needs to have a shuffle through some of Marvs albums and pick out the odd lick here and there and file for a few million.

And then someone from Cannonball Adderlys or Ray Charles estate needs to have a looks through Wes Montgomerys or James Browns stuff and sue those c**ts.

And so on. Eventually this lad is going to clean up. Can defo hear a bit of Hey Jude in here.

That's the ending of most Radiohead album tracks.
