Ok, I'm all for equality. But it kind of irritates me a little when someone's idea for campaigning for equality involves inequality. Perhaps I'm wrong, and I'm open to discussion on the matter. But that is the first thing that jumps out at me.

This sums up my PoV.

I'm struggling to see its purpose. Will it really be a place women want to spend their Glastonbury time? Wouldn't it benefit their cause if they aired their beliefs to all instead of a subset?

NYC Downlow would be pretty boring if it were transvestites only.

Equality is all well and good provided you're operating on a level playing field to begin with, unfortunately our society isn't

Two wrongs don't make a right.

It doesn't *need* to exist at the festival, however the festival is a great place for exchanging ideas and gaining motivation (see: Leftfield).  Therefore it exists.  That's how I'm taking it anyway.  I'll be having a wander in.

I've never quite understood how you can "exchange ideas" if you exclude 50% of your audience. Being 'women only' it's just preaching to the converted.

If you assume that all women are 'converted' (whatever that is) or even consciously aware of forms of sexism.

I get the sentiment of the picture, but I never understood why they didn't just knock down that flimsy looking wooden fence together? Isn't equality about removing the structural barriers some people systematically face? That'd be a nice metaphor I think.

They shouldn't be stealing cricket anyway.

The amount of Lads trying to barge their way into this venue for major bantz is going to be depressing, isn't it?

Really? Are you sure they won't be watching bands with their mates & girlfriends, in mixed group like? (Or at least trying to find somewhere showing the football?)

People seem to be delighted when Shangri La goes 'middle fingers up' at traditional values and mores, just not when it's their own established principles and prejudices.

Like I have said somewhere else, Im all for this to make a point, but, sometimes people complaining are not doing so out of malice. They are moaning as, they don't treat someone differently. Some of it is in my opinion, naivety.

They don't do it, never think of doing it. Unfortunately that doesn't mean society has a level playing field

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
