When do we normally get the map?

In recent years I've actually gotten more excited when the festival map is released than first line up poster, noticing what's different and new.

Can anyone remember when the map has been released in previous years, if there's any patterns in released dates etc?

I love maps and I was probably far too excited about being given a detailed one from an info point in 2007 (having only seen the one in the fine guide), it was wonderful :P

Come on GFL!

The map I like is the one you can get at the info points, very detailed, just black and whit and a smidgen of colour, I still look at th m today. Cant wait to see how the new JP area is laid out, and what they put in its place

Yeah same, it's so detailed! I was very excited to discover the badger set on it, and just in general that there were road names

That's bloody brilliant! :) Thank you.

Shaun.

Yeah it's so great, found it by accident when searching for a map from 05 to prove another poster here was wrong about something, spent ages looking at it and then couldn't be bothered with the proving wrong thing, glad you both like it.

Biggest change for me is the 2nd exit out of the dance village between sonic and wow

should seriously cut down on the huge crowds going in and out of the dance village towards the other.

Also means less sound bleed from the two stages

Paths in the woods are the same as before I think? Was always a wierd part of the festival to accidentally end up in, should be much cooler with the lights and that.

Quite a bit of camping lost around John Peel... Worried how that's gonna affect my nice peaceful and spacious Darble spot.

That's a pretty big change in terms of the layout, also removes one of Silver Hayes tents, can't quite remember the name Despacio?

Nah that wasn't there last year, it just goes through the gap between wow and sonic

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
