Weather 2016

This year didn't start too well with people being towed onsite! Just really felt relentless ..I don't mind mud usually! All part of the fun. Having the worry in the back of your mind of how you will get out...dont know why I'm so affected, I love Glastonbury whatever the conditions usually...

I'd say the organisation hasn't helped this year, not much sawdust/chippings being put down away from the main stages which is surprising given state of the ground...wonder if any reason for this did they use them all by other stage before James! Lol ...and what's this about improved drainage over last few years? Seen pleanty of pools of standing water/watery mud around and it hasnt rained 'that' hard tbh

The people as well, seen a couple of fights which is v.unusual. And the traffic control stewards seem.ineffectice, keep being pushed off paths into deep mud by a crowd off people all going on way not leaving any room.for the other direction forgetting it's meant to be a 2 way path. Came.close to flaring up.at someone.earlier and that's v rare....definitely wouldnt do this again.

How's the weather holding up? It looks pretty threatening on the webcam but that may be just dawn.

Bit of rain earlier but nothing too bad. I've managed to avoid most of it by coinsidence - being in a tent for Bat for Lashes when it started pissing it down earlier etc

I can't say why, but I've never been so unbothered by the mud. The only time I fell over was almost deliberate, I was pulling such reckless shapes at Arcadia. I wore a white jacket all night on Friday and didn't get and mud on it. The springy ground kept my feet going all through the festival.

Plus I only got rained on once and thanks to new raincoat and umbrella hat.

I enjoyed myself. Ok, getting my boots on and off was a bit of a ball ache, but due to sage advice from this forum, I had contingency plans for needing a wee in the night.

It was good!

In review, I think the forecasts where reasonable and the weather itself wasn't bad at all. What we need to remember for future years is that rain in the weeks before the festival will lead to muddy conditions no matter how dry the Spring.

Anyway, had a great time and looking forward to 2017.

We were actually pretty lucky with the weather in an odd way, barely rained during the day times and we narrowly missed some really heavy daytime bursts by a few miles.

If we'd missed the Friday and Saturday am showers as well it would have recovered in a lot of areas.

Not sure what Eavis is on saying this is the worst year for mud. Nowhere close to 1997, 1998 or 2007.

Yeah, there has been more mud and rain in other years, but this year was about the worst stodgy mud I can remember. It was similar in 97 I think when it dried out on the Saturday, with huge effort required to get anywhere.

Certainly the worst chaos this year in the car parks and campervan fields.

One of the tractor boys told us that they had logistics problems with the metal tracks - not enough was delivered and not enough machines for laying it, leading to churning and access problems around the car parks / CV.

This year was tiring as there was mud / bog from getting in right up until getting out. Other years it's been OK for one of the other, even in 2007.

The rain over the actual 5 days was fairly OK really. Shame the site was ruined and water table up before we even all got there.

Oh well!

Got stuck in the mud bad at Avalon inn... Going over the bridge against the tide of people trying to use that field as a cut through to the SE corner...

I remember a girl singing a song about wiggling your toes and taking care as mud was at sticky... As well as a lovely bloke who was willing me to lift my boots out by lifting my toes.

never had a fest before where it's been 100% wellies the entire time (been going since 09)

I enjoyed planting my boots deep into the mud and doing a hip shimmy. I could pull off moves that would normally have had me on my arse, especially after all the cider I'd consumed!

Haha yeah was stuck during Stayin Alive (jarred on wine) and was doing the same.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
