Admittedly one was the early morning death slot last year, but they didn't do ir then. Ive always just found them to be the stone roses-(very) -lite on record. I thought they sounded absolutely dreadful in that slot last year. I was surprised by how shite they were

I'm still furious they've got this lousy slot. Their first song has to be perfectly chosen. I'm thinking laid could be the way to go

Mardy
Hehehe, for years, in fact for as long as i've been on these boards, all the James fans on here have been banging on about what a great booking for the festival they'd be. Now, they've been booked, the excuses are already starting to come in, i noticed it the other week, too; Murmers about the wrong time of day, wrong stage etc etc.

Last night, they came back for the encore and Tim said 'we normally do something unexpected at this point but tonight we're gonna play the obvious.' i thought, 'laid' but it was sit down and i thought 'for fuck's sake.' but d'ya know what - it was brilliant. Band were proper into it. Never seen a tambourine be played as vigorously as Andy did for that song. Crowd loved it. My miserable old fart face well and truly proved wrong and cheered up. Mardy
But, in all seriousness, look at last year, both Patti Smith and Belle & Sebastian had times/stages that nobody wanted for them. Groans of disappointment when those times were revealed. But in both cases they absolutely fucking nailed it.

You think that's what they'll do? I can see it working if they get a critical mass of people along there. Enough to make it bounce. They've got 3 absolute bankers that everyone knows, right? Play them at the right time, could have everyone by the jaffas.

Two from Sit down, laid, she's a star, come home or tomorrow. Although last night she's a star was done acoustic. It was brilliant but may not be the way to go in June as an opener. What will they get, 45 mins? Open with sit down, then she's a star, born of frustration, couple of middling songs, then a run of tomorrow, come home and laid to finish with? As a non-devout passerby, that would probably keep me there

I seen them play at 11am at Latitude a couple of years ago (due to be the afternoon before, but flight was delayed so they opted to come on the following morning before the rest of the bands started). They were fucking great, even with very few hits and mainly stuff I don't know. The first morning of the first day of Glastonbury people will be up for it. I wouldn't bother buying tickets to another James live show because I'm not all that enthused to see them live again, but they're a fucking gift to a festival when the sun is out and you're with your mates, proper magic. I meant the colour of the shit. That was the point I was making. White shit might seem better to some people but it still stinks and you still would not eat it, regardless of how it looked on the surface. I had a chopper anyway in the 80's.
