I'm fucking buzzing with this mind. Missing out on Glastonbury tickets in October was the worst, then I left the Etihad tickets and bought TITP tickets as well for Roses, but the lineup was fucking shit for that. I never dreamed things would work out like this. I deserve some happiness before my team gets relegated tonight anyway!

Glad you got sorted. I'm using Wednesday as my 'take it in gig' then I can just get plastered Saturday/Sunday

I vaguely remember the one night at Heaton Park I did but I wish I remembered more. Did get a cameo in the Made Of Stone film though. Every cloud..

That would be a role reversed then from the Second Coming as people were queueing up to slag it off even though it was actually pretty good.

It makes me laugh now 20 years later how people were fawning all over Oasis while sticking the boot into the Roses. Now the Roses can seemingly do no wrong while Oasis do not get the credit they deserve.

Certain groups of people will always fawn over Roses/Oasis because of the "Courteeners effect" where any act from a certain area will always do well there because they're from that area. Also known as the "Calvin Harris effect" in other regions.

Which I'm sure you're well aware of anyway ;)

I got lucky with The Roses gig for Saturday as a work colleague bought two for her and her boyfriend. But a while ago she dumped him and then knowing I like them, asked me if I wanted the ticket and to go with her. So of course I said yes please! Furthest north I've been is, erm, Norfolk! So I'm really looking forward to spending the night in Manchester. Going to be a great lead in to Glastonbury. Can't wait!

What are they playing at with the support acts? It's getting late in the day.

Best not to know, I reckon. In Dublin we're getting Rodrigo y Gabriella and Soak.

Still, drinks are cheaper in the pub.

I've heard a teenage singer songwriter called soak will be one of the support acts

Can vouch that she was not bad on the Other stage last year.

Strange how they were announced ages ago but nothing in regards to Manchester yet.

Gonna be plenty in this camp just waiting to knock it regardless of how it sounds

I can't see it being shite, especially the first single. They've got the money from the gigs they aren't just gonna release new music willy nilly unless they're confident

I'll listen with an open mind, but I am not expecting much. There are exceptions to the rule, of course, but there aren't a plethora of examples of guys in their 50s writing relevant, decent rock'n'roll. It's just the way it is. I'd think there'll be some decent guitar playing though.

Make sure you try chips and gravy, your life will then be complete. If you are feel adventurous then get a steak and kidney pudding with it.

I must admit, I don't get Blossoms. I've tried my best and they're the kinda thing I should like, just can't get into them.

Like me with LCD that. I found Blossoms a little blah blah guitar for my liking.

Aye it's weird. I'm an unashamed fan of Oasis, Stone Roses etc (quite rightly), but just can't get into Blossoms for some reason. Most likely down to me than them.

You probably have no cultural reference for them. It is the same with me and LCD. You can probably think back to times when you heard Oasis or the Roses in a club, pub, sat round your mates having a beer or a smoke. Subconsciously you link them tunes and bands to good times. When you hear a new band, because you don't have that cultural reference for them it can be difficult to be won over unless the music is outstanding.

I have been exactly the same with LCD soundsystem. They tick all the right boxes but I find something missing from them. I will give them a good go and I just end up thinking that I would rather be listening to The Human League.

Aye maybe.

But I don't really have a cultural reference for LCD either. My missus was into them and played them constantly.

I'm far more aligned to your kinda music.

I didn't really have a strong feeling either way until I heard the new song that has a chorus starting off "I'm over you / Get under me / This is the last time / Don't say it's the last time" and that's just terrible, maybe even sub-Catfish lyricism.

Aye. That's what I was getting. And I didn't want to judge cause I like, for example, Circa Waves who could go the same way, but Blossoms for whatever reason aren't for me.
