But considering they have gone for Muse, Adele and Coldplay to headline the pyramid it seems that they are

Is that not the point of the Pyramid though to showcase the biggest/most popular (not best) artists around? If it was purely based on quality you could have someone like TV on the Radio headlining, but thats not what the stage is for. Like it or not the Pyramid caters to the populist crowd, it always has done. Only difference this that a lot of us aren't keen on what the popular choices are this year.

Exactly yeah, just Russy was suggesting PJ Harvey to sub the pyramid in the 'Nick Cave' slot which realistically isn't going to happen because of the reasons you mention above

arent the complaints more about the fact that muse and coldplay have played so many times before, rather than the fact they are a load of old shit?

There wasnt this outcry when foo fighters were announced last year, and they are just as dull.

I don't think it's inconceivable her subbing the Pyramid. She is a very 'glastonbury' act, if that makes sense.

maybe so but she just isn't on that level. Glastonbury act, Mercury Prize boost, critical acclaim etc, none of it has pushed her up to sub level at the biggest festival in the UK. far more suited to the Plant/Costello/Bacharach spot one or two down, where she'll pull a crowd of people wanting to see her rather than just getting themselves a good spot for the headliner

My bad, agree with all the valid criticism of the Muse play bookings.

Yep, or she should be headlining a stage. I was a late convert to all things Polly. Let England Shake's publicity enticed me in and I was hooked.

PJ Harvey opposite Coldplay is my wish for 2016

Never really listened to PJ Harvey, recommendations for where to start?

Stories from the city, stories from the sea is probably the most accessible album. It's absolutely brilliant too

Stories from the city, stories from the sea I reckon - excellent album (although it does have Thom yorke whining on a couple of tracks).

If you like that try is this desire?

has that prat ever improved a song? I'm still furious over his destruction of my favourite portishead song at latitude.

    • What is too old for Leeds Fest now ?  I'm going to the Fontaines Saturday in a few weeks at 54 !!!  I may be the oldest there 🙂    Wythenshawe may be an option for WA.
    • Pretty much all festivals lose out on major artists because of production limitations though. Glastonbury is no different to most other festivals.  Lots of acts can/will adapt their tour production to suit festival stages if they want to play them, but some acts with stage designs and routines just don't want to adapt, and would rather just stick with a rigid, well-rehearsed production and take the money for their own gigs, whether that's a lot more than playing Glastonbury, or slightly less than playing some other festivals (but with added complications). Trying to adapt the stage, layout, access to b-stages etc to accommodate a single headliner on a Friday and then having to change it all around for a Saturday headliner isn't really a goer when most headliners can just easily adapt their show to stay on a main stage, if they're so inclined. They have a year to figure out how to perform a song on a main stage and ditch a few dance routines out on a b-stage if they really put their mind to it. It's not that difficult......
    • I would be all over Wolf Alice but may have outgrown this venue.    Also have to consider the schedule they have been on this year so may be on a break.  This last 10 days alone they did Tramlines, New York, Chicago and Kendal Calling.  Although make hay while the sun shines may come into play.
