First time going to Glastonbury next year then, always avoided it due to all the hassle surrounding the tickets and the recent line-ups haven't been quite to my taste, so i prefer to go abroad (NOS)... Tips for ticket buying though?

Just catching up on this, so sorry if it's been posted already - but just yesterday Emily said in the Guardian...

Addressing Glastonbury’s “secret performer” slot – which Prince and David Bowie were often hoped to fulfil – Eavis denied the rumour that Radiohead would perform at 2016’s event. “There’s no planned Radiohead gig at the moment. But obviously we would love to have Radiohead back. Personally I’d love to have them play next year but at the moment there’s no confirmation, so we’ll have to see.”

well she's not gonna go ahead and say they're booked is she? that'd be giving the game away a bit early

Way too early i agree, has anyone else picked up on her choice of words "There's no confirmation", she could have spoken to representatives or are working on something we could assume?

she's claimed that next years headliners are already sorted so there's a good chance they're near enough booked and just need to sign on the dotted line, as is often the case. they're friends of the festival so i'm sure it'd be a pretty easy booking to sort out. fingers crossed! i'd pretty much given up hope of them ever returning until Neil said that

I'd be very surprised if they haven't been in talks with RH for the past month or so. Even if they weren't on their radar to headline next year, the hype and massive success of their new album/tour will have swayed them.

Wouldn't shock me at all if they already have a handshake arrangement in place.

I do feel there's an element of us choosing to believe Neil's source over Emily, just based on the fact that we want them there... In any case, I'm still baffled as to why they just weren't booked this year. Seems bizarre.

when has Emily ever said this early on 'yeah we've booked *** for next year'?. if she's asked about a headliner being booked she's obviously gonna dodge the question or deny their booking. maybe it was a case of Muse, Coldplay and Adele all finishing touring this year whereas Radiohead have only just started and will continue on to next year? makes sense to me

I was referring to the decision to choose Muse/Coldplay over them, regardless of tour schedule - they're available, have a new album and haven't played in 13 years... Don't know if I'm missing something but their tour dates only go up til October?

Possible that Adele's umming and ahhing meant they were pencilled in as a backup for this year and then when she said definitively yes that the end result was they were happy to do next year?

Heed/Foos/Sheeran as a set is practically as beige as this year's trio. And that's coming from someone who would love Radiohead to be there and thinks Sheeran deserves a shot at the title.

Won't be Foo Fighters, though I'll be surprised if it's someone who adds any more colour to the mix. Depeche Mode would be my tip.

Nah, just the hiatus. It'd have to be touring a new album and it doesn't seem likely that they've been secretly recording anything with the other members' bands on tour and that EP thing not so long ago. Major bands take fucking ages with a record and trail it out forever regardless; see Radiohead.
