No TKOL there but a lot of people thought that wasn't the most festival friendly set particularly compared to the night before at Reading - I was there and loved it but it's a good omen if you enjoyed that gig despite not really knowing a lot of the stuff.

Not to be pedantic, but In Rainbows has like, zero choruses. One of the things I love about that record is the structure, or lack thereof, of the songs.

This is pretty much how I get familiar with most artists, if possible. Even if I know there's a universally lauded record 4 or 5 in then that's something to work towards.

Oh there is structure in those songs, but you're bloody right.  I was sure that Jigsaw Falling Into Place had a chorus, and it does kind of, but it's not repeated.  Similarly for Bodysnatchers, it does have that "I have no idea what I am talking about" section, but it's not really a chorus, since it's only repeated with slightly different lyrics shortly after the first occurrence.

I stand corrected, In Rainbows may have accessible songs, but they only appear to have standard pop song structures, when in fact none of them do.  It's a very pretty, but nevertheless very sophisticated record.

listening to Kid A now, and Kid A (the song) must've sent people's heads absolutely west when they first listened to this album. Everything in it's Right Place is odd enough coming off the back of OK Computer, but that self titled song coming in next is on a whole other level

I was never a fan of Kid A.  I've had an enjoyable afternoon test driving some acid, so going to give it a spin for the comedown, see how I feel about it these days.

it's grown on me more than any other Radiohead album. i found it almost unlistenable when i was younger ('cause i had shit music taste) but with every listen i discover something new that i love. even the title track that i just mentioned which is weird as fuck and usually just passes by me has just had me thinking 'this is really great'

also Optimistic is one of their best songs imo. would've been huge had it been released as a single

Optimistic always has and still is my least favourite track on that record.  I appreciate the sentiment, but it doesn't really do it for me the way the rest of the songs do.

really? it doesn't really fit in with the album, granted (much like how Electioneering didn't really fit on OK Computer/felt like a leftover from The Bends) but it's definitely my favourite, followed closely by The National Anthem (was so sad to see they stopped playing that on their last tour)

Electioneering is pretty pants as far as Radiohead tracks go.

You're probably right as to why I don't like it Optimistic.  It spoils the mood a little bit, I like my electronica. National Anthem is great, I agree.

HTTT above Kid A and The Bends? interesting. i have such a love/hate relationship with HTTT - sometimes i stick it on and think its the best thing ever, and other times i realise that a good handful of the songs just aren't up to their usual standard

It's been a real grower for me. Places 3 to 5 do tend to move around but first two are pretty much cemented.

I think they look pretty likely, that's not as a mad fan or anything because I've not listened to them. It just seems to make a lot of sense to me that the band who are big fans of the fest, not headlined in a while and are headlining around Europe with a big gap at Glastonbury time would be playing in some form.

with most other bands i'd agree with you, but considering the band (or at least some of them) are big fans of attending the festival as either punters or with their side projects/DJing etc, the gap in their schedule isn't as easy to pin down as 'it's so Radiohead can play Glastonbury'. i mean i hope that's what it is, but it could just as easily be because they want to go themselves

although yeah, if it weren't for that and the persistent Muse rumours, it would seem almost too obvious that Radiohead were one of the headliners, wouldn't it?
