I do question the size of LCD Soundsystem for that slot as they are pretty niche but the Coachella headline slot means they would need to headline Other as a minimum really.

I believe they will have the smallest Other headline crowd although New Order may get a big impact from the huge crowd Adele is going to get. Bring Me The Horizon will get the best crowd on Other in my humble opinion.

But.... They're not. Because they aren't BIG enough in England.

Blossoms have said they are playing the Other on Friday with Disclosure and (somehow) Bastille subbing. If you think about it logically they aren't going to clash LCD (headlining Coachella) and Muse (headlining the majority of European festivals) are they.

Hang on a minute here squire, first you're saying that they're not big enough, now you're insinuating that the festival wouldn't put them up against Muse because of the fact they're headlining Coachella and therefore too big of a band to clash with Muse. Which one is it?

Headlining Reading and Leeds is a bit different to headlining Coachella. This is the problem with 90% of this forum, when it is something that they don't like, they think it's a stupid idea when really it makes more sense. LCD won't headline the Other, Disclosure will. How big of a crowd are LCD really going to pull? Bigger than Chemical Brothers? Bigger than Hot Chip playing WH last year?

i don't dislike Disclosure, and thought they would be one of the Other headliners since before last years festival, but Neil has had info that puts LCD Soundsystem as the Friday night headliner. another poster who had info that New Order would be the Saturday night headliner also had info that LCD would be the Friday night headliner. Disclosure are already headlining Reading/Leeds as well as headlining their own festival. LCD have one UK date. it makes far more sense for them to be the Other headliner than Disclosure, who as you say, we only have info on because of the guy from Blossoms... hardly the most reputable source

Both mate. I think the status of headlining Coachella matters more than the band doing it. How LCD have ended up headlining it I don't know. Must be massive in the states. It's a weird one.

I'd say it's more 90% of the comments you're referring to are people who know what they are talking about/ is based on information that's came directly from efestivals, which is a more proven source of info that anything else you are going to read online

Theyve ended up headlining because they are massive in America. I suggest you get the DVD of their final show at MSG

Answered your own question really then mate. Playing Madison Sq Gardens and Coachella in the US and where in England? Lovebox. Strange how a band could play Madison Sq but couldn't fill out the 02 isn't it?

You're wrong. I think you're underestimating just how big Coldplay are right now, plus you always get the Sunday crowd who just stick at the Pyramid all day regardless of who's playing.

I don't know anybody who would choose to see BMTH as their headliner at Glastonbury. QOTSA played on the Sunday in similar circumstances a few years back, and it wasn't exactly rammed then.

Bring Me The Horizon - smallest headline crowd, no doubt.

Perhaps, rather than the rest of the forum looking through rose tinted specs and grossly inflating LCD's popularity, perhaps it is you who is underestimating it? There'll be a heck of a lot of people who wouldn't have gotten into LCD until after their final performance, including myself and many on this board. There are bands myself that I look at, and think that there is no way they could take a certain slot, but that's just my own perspective. I'm still very new to the music scene as a whole, but sometimes you have to look at things objectively. LCD subbed the Other in 2010 - the 6 year hiatus and the legacy that formed in the meantime will afford them the bump up to headline the stage.

How do you know they wouldn't fill the o2 if they were to play it now?

Filling the o2 also isn't in the criteria needed to headline the other stage I wouldn't think

Also, Lovebox will have paid a fortune for them to play there only London show of the summer there, don't underestimate the power of money

Rudimental headlined Lovebox and the Other Stage last year, so not entirely sure what your point is there.

    • Have you tried Anna von Hausswolff yet? Great singer, and she's from Gothenburg so guess she'll be extra excited to show her skills, especially after she unfortunately had to cancel her early summer dates.    Different style, but Oklou for me was the highlight of Primavera (apart from Geese), really enjoyable relaxed music.
    • A few bigger acts that did other similar festivals this year but not Truck, wouldn't be surprised to see one or two of these (if they're touring):   Reytons The Streets Blossoms Sophie-Ellis Bextor Rick Astley Scissor Sisters Dizzee Rascal   Truck on the undercard seems to rotate a lot of it every 2/3 years, expect to see some of these (if they're touring): Yard Act Sports Team Sea Girls Pale Waves Fat Dog Peace Swim Deep Courting   Hope Westside Cowboy and Radio Free Alice are booked again and get some bigger slots next year
    • I read a reliable source saying there's not enough time to stress test and have worked through any major financial decisions between now and then.   So guarantees this budget will just be tinkering at the edges only.
    • Thanks @sisco. Looking forward to it!
    • Looking like will be bringing a 2-3 month old to Glastonbury next year
