I switched to a proper Camp Bed last year after years on AirBeds of various types.

Just had a bog standard 12 quid one as sold all over the place, but the difference was amazing.

Will be on a Camp Bed again this year, might upgrade it to a fancier model but in my case the size/weight issue isn't a problem - some of the expensive ones are nearly 10kg so not backpack friendly. Think the one I had last year wasn't much heavier than a typical Air Bed.

I'm going to give a self inflator a go this year for the first time, on the basis of the recommendations here. I used to sleep on the floor, then upgraded to an airbed in my 30s when I realised that actually getting some comfortable sleep was a benefit.

I'm made up, thought i was going to have to buy new kit after last years debacle, turns out there are a couple of self inflating camping mats in the loft. Result.

Self inflating = Depends how light a sleeper you are, hard/uneven ground and its not always enough.

Airbed - Not any good on steep hills (as discovered last year) Need to keep topping up, pretty weighty to carry.

Camp bed = Don't know, but am considering this option for this year. Only issue is i am tall

Took a self-inflator last year, managed to lose it on the bus from Castle Cary though :(

This is my fear so was going to try and fit everything in the rucksack. I lost a bag of stuff on the shuttle bus back in 2013, guessing it's easy to accidentally pick up a plain bag or generic camping equipment item mistaking it for your own.

I was going to buy one of the aldi self inflators tomorrow. I've had good luck with the quality of their sale stuff, so hopefully it won't be a bad decision.
