Depends who's up against lionel, there wasn't much else on for dolly, hence the large crowd

i don't think it matters much - regardless of who he's up against, his crowd will be ginormous. it's just standard practice for the Sunday legend these days, and especially for an act like Lionel/Dolly with so many huge cheesy mass sing alongs

Kenny Rodgers' crowd wasn't especially massive. Neither was Ray Davies' - albeit his turn clashed with the England game.

Kenny Rogers has two songs that your average person will know (in fact, my friend told me that he played both of those songs twice as he was well aware of this), and Ray Davies doesn't have the cheese factor that both Dolly and Lionel have (in fact i'd wager that a lot of people don't even know who he is). EVERYBODY knows Dolly and Lionel and their songs. they're ingrained in people's heads

Hello and maybe a couple from the Commodores aside, I really don't think his tunes have that much cultural saturation. He's a bad joke, rather than a joke - like Dolly - that people actively enjoy.

He'll get a big crowd - way bigger than Kenny's - but I don't think it will be on a Dolly scale.

Lionel, 100%. The only act with HUGE crossover appeal. The who played in 07 and have a Peado in them so will draw a lot but a lot won't bother.

i might sound biased - but you need to check your facts my friend and remember that tabloids loose interest after the sensational part of the story and he was completely cleared later and even the childrens charity who initially called for blood went into writing accepting that there was no wrong doing. i've resisted commenting on posts similar to yours but seeing it over again and again is so annoying. And before you rant off back at me, i have 2 young children of my own and would do anything to protect them so i wouldn't defend anyone who actually was even slightly implicated in being such a dispicable individual. Lastly, having seen The WHO live many times and knowing most of the history, personally i think PT can be a complete idiot sometimes, arrogant just to start with but then thats rock and roll, don't need to love the man to love his / their music!

ah yeah i don't think it'll come close to the Dolly crowd - that was ridiculous - but it'll still easily be one of the biggest of the year (along with Foos)

Wasn't Dolly up against Sam Smith last year? Just as he was getting to the height of his popularity.

Or have I remembered that incorrectly?

Can't remember either, but I'm no ss fan, probably means nothing else grabbed me more than anything

Oh I'm no Sam Smith fan either, and was one of those in the crowd way at the back just to say 'I was there', but the fact Dolly drew that big of a crowd whilst up against one of the most popular artists in the last couple of years shows that regardless of who is on, the majority will flock to the legends slot each year.

Florence + the Machine I think. She's not up for any other UK festivals this year (apart from Radio 1 at Norwich) and has done very few live shows in UK since 2012. And the first Coachella performance was pretty amazing!

There's been lots of opportunities recently to see the Foos and the Who (although I will probably do both), and a large percentage of people will be actively avoiding Kanye at any cost.

Lionel Richie I don't think has quite the same crossover appeal that Dolly had last year.

    • A win is a win but it was a very poor game with only 4 shots on target in the whole game. Scotland obviously handed a massive bonus with Brazil and Morocco drawing but I don't think either of them will be too worried.
