yeah, simple as that!

Assuming they are starting to take it away now, think it’ll be gone this week? Seems like it would be a big job

If it was a quick job it will have gone long ago and would probably have been back again this year. Still wondering why wait until now before removing it.

once they get another  crane up there I dont think it will take too long tbh ..... a week seems well and truly doable ... place your bets now for when she disappears  from sight ..... 10 am fri is mine

Fence is flying up!

There's a digger at work in the Arcadia field, and I spotted one in a similar spot along the hedgerow last week. Have they opened up a gap in the hedgerow? I don't have the link to the page where you can check back to hand.

That's the normal route into Paines/South Park/PGD etc. (we normally camp on this side of those hedges in view))

I actually wonder if they’re laying track to it for bigger vehicles to get across the grass?

Looking at some images from 2019 they seemed to start work on Pangea around the same week - but yeah the metal road/tracks were laid down first.

The fence going up almost exactly the same time as well.  The OS slightly behind 2019 (talking 1-2 days) but also the Park Stage was going up:

Probably no point having the teams on site twice.

The only thing I can think of is that there's extra infrastructure on site now (trackways, cranes + other vehicles) that make it easier/cheaper to deal with once the main festival build has begun.

This is the same as before I think. They've just made a new floor on the top levell.

It looks different as it's bare and doesn't have stuff built on such as the actual bar with drinks and staff etc.

Are we guessing it's remaining on site following deconstruction or leaving Worthy Farm altogether? If the latter then even with it breaking into components the haulage will be significant so scheduling for weekend to limit traffic disruption might be on the cards.

1000 Sat to wave it off for me.

They moved it in on a weekday with a police escort last time if I remember correctly?

The question will be where is it going? I doubt they’re keen to have a derelict crane back at Avonmouth docs

Yeah fair point … can’t see them doing anything with her this year … they might move her to the holding pen by gate A ready for removal … to join her other bits and peices ready to be taken away … laying the trackway to get a lorry in will take half a day at least ..

Joe Rush's workshop for some butchery?

Are we definitely sure the crane is being removed and not re-constructed? I would love it if they could have both the Spider and the Crane in the same field.

I consider it doubtful though 😔

I'm sure one of the Rush lads could do something with it.

I think it’s just too bulky … maybe they can use the jib but I reckon the reason it’s by gate A currently is that it’s ready for collection

I’ve just been wondering the same thing. The crane base in its current location does stand out a bit. Is there a place on site where the base wouldn’t be so noticeable and be able to stay in situ all year.

Nope there would be absolutely no point to doing this …. Other than pissing off the council who they need to keep on side

    • Orbital opening the Other stage is a bold choice!
    • Great start for them
    • Thanks so much - that's very helpful. Someone else mentioned getting a train from Loughborough to East Midlands Parkway, and then a festival shuttle from there to the site. I think they were then going to come back on the Skylink Derby to Loughborough - I assume this is because the trains don't run as late as the Skylink, otherwise they would just come back the same way they came?! Is the transport hub a long way from the main stage? Just wondering what time I would need to leave Linkin Park to be sure of getting a shuttle. As I say, I am sure it will all be clear on the day, even after a few beers! Just hope the rain stays away...
    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
