went from JP to Other though so not really the same - talking more about high up acts who return to similar slots with fuck all to show for it, like is being talked about with Faithless

The 1975 jumped from early on the Other to warming up for Dolly on the Pyramid on the same album tour, although they had such a surge in popularity that again it bears little resemblance to Faithless' situation.

How many times have they booked a band to perform a classic album? Primal Screams Screamadelica set was superb. Just by playing that they got a headline slot. If an artist is touring a classic album it is acceptable for them to play a slot that that album was worthy of at the time of its release?

the album wasn't out when they played the Other in 2013 - just a few singles. album came out in September which gave them their Pyramid slot

This very clearly sums it up, it's a  boring and lazy booking for who don't like them. Likewise for me with Radiohead, I feel it's the most bland and boring booking headliner the fest could make.

I turned up to work half an hour early today... That was to make sure I was set up for Radiohead tickets and I haven't done much actual work since, but that's irrelevant.

and surely you've got to realise that even if Radiohead isn't to your liking, their booking would make a hell of  a lot more sense than Faithless being booked to sub this year?

Well I'm not as your own reply was clearly that you don't like them and that it would be okay for Pulp to do a set with no new stuff

 It was a longtime ago but they still played a few years back and they aren't likely to have toured it like Faithless, they weren't an active band for years.

Not really, they are a headline band.....they haven't gave a shit about thw Pyramid for 16 years whereas they have about a much smaller stage......strangely the stage that has a lot of acts that are featured on Radioheads prime playing Radio station. Muse are probably booked for this yearn as an easy booking based of knowing early enough that Foo's couldn't do this year.

While we're on about headliners too, Ed and Biffy are probably nailed on for T next year too.

At the moment I'll say Ed Sheeran (nailed on), The Stone Roses and Radiohead for 2017 headliners.

If Foos are active again by then, swap them in for Roses/Radiohead.

Also chance of Depeche Mode and maybe Fleetwood Mac if they're active, I'll say.

I'd throw Kendrick into the mix as well if he has new material, but with Sheeran already being bumped up I can't see it, unfortunately.

I liked the idea Neil (I think) tossed out the other day, that Radiohead may have been a back up for Adele and a 2017 headliner instead if she ended up agreeing to do it.

I'm not confident about any of those acts being there other than Sheeran, though.

I think quite a lot of bands do this jump. Florence and the machine did the same. Years and Years are probably going to do it this year.

yeah some acts gain huge momentum in between years so it makes total sense for them to be rebooked. my girlfriend at the time told me that Years & Years was stupidly rammed and loads of people couldn't get in, so it'd make total sense to book them on a bigger stage this year

somebody on Glasto Chat (i know, i know...) is claiming to have bumped in to some of the organisers today and is saying that Adele is not headlining and that the Saturday WH headliner pulled out as recently as yesterday. probably bullshit as it is 80% of the time on there, but thought it was worth posting, if only to get this thread back roaring back in to action with Radiohead and Stone Roses speculation

99% of me thinks that Adele will headline, but theres always that 1% of me that hopes for a surprise. Would be nice to have a surprise this year as Muse and Coldplay were rather predictable

yeah, i fully believe she's the final headliner and that this guy is talking out of his arse, but you never know i guess, and the Saturday WH headliner pulling out bit is interesting at least
