This week has been hard going.

To use a football analogy; I felt like we'd taken an early lead when New Order went to TBC, a nice quick goal to settle the side. Probably took our foot off the pedal though and allowed an equaliser from Coldplay even though we knew the were the ones to watch. That knocked the stuffing out of us but last night we started looking like we were on top, then BOOM, PJ Harvey is confirmed and we retake the lead! However BMTH go straight up the park and score to draw it level again. Since then it's been wave after wave of attack by the opposition and it seems like just a matter of time before Adele scores what could be the decisive goal.

We all glance hopefully towards the bench at Radiohead, are they fit? Can they win it for us? Have LCD Soundsystem picked up a knock?

Glastonbury expects...

At what point do Muse become a heritage act, then? They've been going 20 years. People probably give as much of a damn about their new album as U2's.

Yeah that's always the problem using genres to define supposed rules, they're always open to interpretation.

the general guess is that it'll come at the Brit Awards.

Which suggests it's going to be Adele who's announced then.

Is that what the information you said you had around Adele definitely being the next name announced was based on? In which case i shall remain very hopeful as that's something I can't see happening at all

The idea that Radiohead are bigger than Muse is laughable, so lets drop it from here on, yes.

Muse play stadia across the world.  Have Radiohead ever headlined a stadium show?

Radiohead have headlined stadium shows yes. However I would tend to agree that Muse are probably more popular in terms of ticket/record sales. I might be wrong however.

What defines big?

I think the last place Radiohead would want to play is stadiums...

Muse on the other hand were on of those bands who from 2004 were designed to be a stadium-band...hats off to them for that..

Think it's unfair to say she would bottle it. Apparently she suffers from anxiety and I experience here to say it is a right nasty illness. Everyone gets butterflies from time to time but real anxiety can take over your life.

The woman has a lot of courage to do what she does.

Easty, please accept my apologies, I let my music prejudice take over. I wish her no ill whatsoever, that was unfair. You're right we all know what it feels like and try to avoid those situations if we can and our chosen roles allow

Your perception of how big an artist is is how big they are on American festivals? Muse have headlined Coachella twice and a bunch of other festivals there so I don't get how you arrived at that. They're bigger because they sell more albums and tickets and whatever measurement you wish to use, really.

"Sell more albums and tickets" while relevant, isn't that valid a measure since Radiohead tour/release albums a lot less frequently and when they do release albums it's been online first of late.

Radiohead have had a far bigger cultural impact, have far more songs widely known (though their set wouldn't play a lot of them) and would likely have more fans amongst the Glasto crowd.

Friday yes but they're not Saturday headliners.

They headlined Saturday last time around which is why I think they would be up for the Friday this time around.

Same as Coldplay playing Saturday last time around so they moved to top pick to headline Sunday before they were confirmed.

That's a way of shaking it up slightly even with the same band playing, playing the same spot exactly feels strange whenever i've seen it happen.

Seriously mate you don't have to apologise, especially to me. It feels weird someone apologising to me, I am usually getting called names :-)

Have seen it a few times people saying she will bottle it. I get the impression she really cares about what she does so fair play to her. If she is suffering from anxiety then she gets my up most respect and I hope she is fantastic and absolutely nails it if she's headlining.

I would doubt all of those when discussed in relation to the likely crowd at the Pyramid Stage.

No one fuckin ever bother trying to say Muse are bigger or even better than Radiohead because... You. Are. Wrong.

thom yorke was riffin out his fragile physcadelic mind whilst Matt Bellamy was still shitting yellow

I am a much bigger Radiohead fan than I am a Muse fan. Radiohead are vastly superior, but muse unfortunately are a bigger band. As influential? No. Popular, yes.

Better, no, that's purely down to opinion. But Muse being bigger you almost certainly could justify, due to the sheer volume of album sales and the size of their tours and international appeal. You have to be delusional to think Radiohead are bigger in that respect. How big you are has nothing to do with how long in the tooth you are or, alas, music quality.

Nope.

Nothing has changed with the info I'd had about them, and that info didn't say they were headlining anyway.

It does raise the question of where they might be playing if they're not headlining, but that question doesn't detract from what's been said to me about Radiohead.

Friday Other Stage opener?

Radiohead are bigger. I shouldn't even need to back this up really. Creep was absolutely massive.. Apart from supermassive black hole I couldn't even name a Snuse song.
