I've seen a few mentions that they are extending the back of the Pyramid field like they did in 2013.

But wasn't it like that last year as well? I'm pretty sure the tents used to be right up against the path but there was s stretch of grass before the tents last year?

Obviously it's pretty great. I was sceptical about them coming back after what happened with them having to stop early on the saturday cos the hot natured deep house nonsense in the wow stage complained about the noise, but the map looks like it may be back. Heidi also intervewed Steph before the mix and he spoke in glowing terms about glastonbury last year, and also said there's more festival dates to be announced, so fingers crossed!

I was not about then so would not have a clue - this is the map from 1990 and as you can see they still dont name it

Is that upside down? Just looking at where pylon ground is compared to the pyramid. Has pylon been renamed/moved?

I know what you mean but if you look at the 2014 map key it did not say ' Pedestrian route ' they used the words ' Track/Road ' - as a Track/Road it does exist but you need a crew pass to enter - its a road that is also used by emergency vehicles so they need to keep it clear so they can get out quickly to the main site.
since Bushy Ground - Rivermead - Pylon - Darble became camping ' that has always been a crew only road ' although its now much clearer now for everyone.

Yeah - more generally they're differentiating crew roads from public ones (same with the Pyramid/Other backstage route).

Shame there doesn't seem to be a way of getting a public path alongside that road though.

No its the correct way round
Pylon Ground was where its showing on that old map but they no longer call that field Pylon Ground
A few years ago 2010 they extended the camping area to the west - up to then it had been used for parking { and a crew camping area } - in fact the first year none of those fields were named.
here is the map from 2009 - as you can see they don't mark out any field in the west but they are there - when they brought that into the festival site they just named a few fields and one was Pylon Ground.

Yeah, it was like that again. I was litter picking the pyramid field, and there was an area about 5 yards wide of clear grass past the path.

What's marked as Pylon Ground on that map is now called Spring Field, and is outside the fence. It's used for FMS Camping (possibly someone else as well, not certain on that).

New camping spots behind the Park. Called Chambers & Mrs Wills.

Mrs Wills was classed as part of Baileys previously, whereas Chambers appears to be a big chunk taken out of Campervan west fields.

Looks like that corner of the festival is going to be woefully inadequate for toilets again this year :/

I am sure Health and Safety would never approve it - they would have to move the wall to make more room which would then reduce the camping in Oxlyers and then put a fence up to divide up the road from the pedestrians.
on the other side of that road is fixed buildings { they are hidden by the hedges } so it cant be made wider that side .
The track going directly towards Gate D is also a none starter as there is supply trucks going in and out and minibuses from the crew camp sites as lots of security camp in that area - its a busy road hence why they restrict access - I know its a pain in the arse but there is no way round it.

Looking forward to map with bars on it for the Wed bar crawl !

The Bars tend to be in the same place each year unless there is a new area added - since the split with Avalon there is no master bar map { where they name each bar } that is made public.

Now they have moved strummerville the likelihood is that the secret entrance is gone. I've camped by the path right by it before (greenfields crew camping) and it got to be a pain in the arse that people would be clambering through our tents looking for a secret way in that was actually bloody obvious and only about 10 feet away.

Great map!

I've only been going since 2003 so I'm used to not seeing Pylon, Rivermead, The Park etc on a map but it's strange for me to see a map with no Other Stage. Also going over Yeoman's Bridge I always feel like I'm really far East on site but in 1990 it was a boundary to the western fence! :-)

There was no security on it in 2013, just a couple of barriers chucked up which you could slip around. As there is no longer a reason for access I'm betting the path won't even be there and they'll chuck an extra couple of stalls and a bit more camping space in undleground this year.

Still worth a recy on the Weds/Thurs. Must be another way in somewhere.

I remember in 2009 when they first started the queuing system the whole crowd just stormed the entrance and the security guards could do nothing.

Was a corking year for disorganisation, which led to the Tuesday night car park thing. At about Midnight on the Tuesday the police forced the festival to let punters in who were putting themselves at risk by milling around on foot on the roads around the festival. My mate text me to let me know, but I was passed out drunk 2 miles away and ended up not getting on site until 3.30 pm after spending 6 baking hours at Bath and West park and ride waiting for buses that never came.
