Did anyone else see the BBC long range forecast last night just before 10pm?

I ask as there is lots of positivity here today  -I like that - the forecast for next week showed the jet stream right over us north to south with lower pressure dominent.

Please tell me they are wrong. They have to be wrong.

I'm not optimistic about the weather. Sure, it won't be pissing down every day, but it could be grey, a bit too cold and just generally miserable. At least if it's about 23 degrees on a nice sunny day any slight sprinkling of rain won't have an effect on the ground.

I take it the numbers are mm Joey?

Sorry, I am shit at weather charts

I don't know haha.

Hopefully mm because somewhere is getting 76 cm of rain in 10 days which will mean they'll need an ark won't they?!

I am, like most, an obsessive follower of the thread, excitely convinced by any positive forecasts and eschewing any that don't sound so good.

But I am, perhaps naively, a great believer in the BBC Weather website which, in my experience, is often eerily accurate - even to the hour.

Accepting that we are still a week away, it currently has a picture of cloudy but dry, 18deg high, 12deg low for Wed-Fri of next week.

so, at this stage I feel confident for dryness at least for the first half of the festival. I think a good start can offset a poorer 2nd half, and I still have an inherent feeling that it's all gonna be OK...

Just sayin'!

:)

I thought low pressure was good?

I thought low pressure was good?

From the googles..

  1. low pressure system is a whirling mass of warm, moist air that generally brings stormy weather with strong winds. When viewed from above, winds spiral into a low-pressure center in a counterclockwise rotation in the Northern Hemisphere.

Grey and cold is fine and and dandy if its not raining.

All that matters is no mud and really not loads of mud.

"The main message from the output today is again one of High pressure remaining largely dominant across the UK in the shape of a ridge from the SW. There are signs of a slackening of the NW flow through the weekend and start to next week as pressure leaks away somewhat and this might promote a few more showers with time but no major breakdown looks likely as High pressure still looks like rebuilding later perhaps more favourably in position to allow rather warmer conditions to develop across a wider portion of the UK. So not much else to say this morning with changes just small from day to day and area to area so with some confidence this morning I can say that there is a lot of dry and very useable conditions to come for most and while not excessively hot at anytime some reasonable and  comfortably warm weather is likely for many with just the chance from time to time of a shower or two to dampen the ground more especially in the North."

I come here several times a day to watch the panic and despair be replaced with Joy and hysteria within a matter of another unscientifically proven post,
It's become a rollercoaster, I want to stop but I can't.....

They were completely wrong up until Sunday/Monday

And yet I can't tear myself away from this thread. Ha. Whatever happens, happens. We'll have a blinder of a festival regardless (unless my tent gets flooded in which case I'll get the hump).
