I don't think it'll happen next year but they're a pretty huge band that R+L have guided up their lineups so I dunno how it could be completely dismissed.

They are yet to headline a mainstream American festival right? Once they do that I reckon i'l probably see it as more likely. Can't see the UK bumping them up to headliner before the U.S. as they are much much much bigger over there and I think they are subbing one this year?

Fact is they're doing an arena headline tour bigger than quite a lot of recent headliners and R+L seemed fond enough of them to have them return high main stage last year so I don't see it as an impossibility next time they do play. But I don't think it'll happen next year as I think Foals will headline and they probably won't go promoting two headliners that have played so recently so maybe on the next album.

Just quoting Hart Attacks effort would've been the better option lol.

See I struggle with the fact that Imagine Dragons have moved onto a tour much bigger than Foals have done easily and yet Foals still have more chance of headlining next year? I don't understand why people think they are bigger than they are? They headlined Bestival last year and have headed Latitude, so have FATM way before them and they are still only getting a sub spot at a major fest.

Imagine Dragons have a pretty well selling arena tour going at the minute, so obviously they have a good shot at headlining festivals.

Would anyone like to explain why they don't? And "they're shit" doesn't count as an answer.

If because they're shit, which they're not was a valid answer then Foals truly and throughly come into that. Bit of a nothing band for me to be honest. I don't see how given they are not doing anything UK wise this year bar their own tour they can't be considered if some of the others can.

I think you have to be in the FF and Flo boat at the minute though, Glasto sub slot basically confirmed the big money fests for me next year for them, I'd expect Reading and T how things stand but given IOW have given TBK their 1st co-headline slot you never know. I still don't believe The Prodigy will headline at Reading, they needed headline at T for me to demand that.

I think IOW could be quite stuck, they've used up their The Prodigy can headline here but won't necessarily at other festivals token.

Why would a headline slot at T in the park demand a headline slot at Reading the following year?

Because if they, The Prodigy in this instance headlined T this year, that'd mean in the last few years they have headlined their own outdoor MK Show, Download, IOW again which they've always done anyway and T. If T got them on a headline, there is a very big chance that had they played V int the end, it'd need to be headline as well. Given the fact Reading have brought their day tickets down to £25 less than a whole day ticket at Reading, I think it'd be a no brainer or you wouldn't be paying for anything below the top two.

Wat

Own opinions and all that.

If that poster that claimed foals were offered to headline this year was right, then it's clear that they are in a stronger position right now than imagine dragons.

But as always, it makes more sense once their new material is actually released.

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
    • I'd say the same about Kylie.    Annie would be awesome, Duran not so much, and on the issue of them wanting a beanie slot, that probably rules out a fair few others who I think would fit the bill very well... and are legitimately more entitled to a headline, and/or too expensive.   Was just about to suggest Chaka Khan, but see @Gnomicide has beat me to it!    What about someone like Bryan Ferry?
    • It's certainly gone more that way, but then they went completely in the opposite direction and had Cat Stevens.
