Lineup 2016

If they were gonna headline a UK festival that wasn't Glasto, I think it would be Isle of Wight or Bestival.

Also Tame Impala and Major Lazer are around at R+L time this year and not booked so I dunno why they're featuring in so many predictions for next year. Particular Tame Impala who are doing pretty much every single one they could, even Rock en Seine.

Tame impala would be 2nd/3rd top. Theyre big enough in the US and europe that they'd command a fee which would need them to be right near the top. Its probably why they didnt get booked this year - too expensive in comparison to the tickets theyd shift

Bunkum. They're headlining the Big Top at Bestival and not particularly high up at European festivals either. They subbed at Coachella but that's a completely different festival on another continent and we could spend all day pointing out the differences in placings.

You guys think The Prodigy will still be around this time next year? I can't remember where they're playing this year it's just T and IoW isn't it?

They were sounded great at Ally Pally tonight, their stuff from the new album seemed to go down well too, just how popular are they these days? Potential headliners?

They'll still be around next summer I'm sure. My guess is an arena tour this winter & a load of Euro festivals again next summer with R&L getting them as a UK exclusive. I'd say still sub tbh but they could headline. My guess is they'd be put below the weakest of the 3 headliners (Foals probs imo) & maybe even, dare I say it co headline with them.

I can't see The Prodigy playing behind Foals. If anything, the vice versa would make more sense to me. Or the co-headline like you mention.

It'd be shocking if that happened but I can't see The Prodigy as R&L headliners. I don't see this album doing anything for them to take them from a sub to headline there. As I said the other day, I think T needed to give them a headline, somewhere where it seems they are very much appreciated for them to have to be booked for a headline spot next year.

I think it could go either way with R&L sub or V Fest 2nd stage, part of me thinks that Disclosure will take the sub spot that they would. I also expect a Glastonbury Other Stage headline spot.

I see what you're saying, and I don't see The Prodigy headlining, but I can see it more than I can see them playing behind Foals.

I think if The Prodigy get asked to sub the Foals itit'll be a straight out no. The last time they subbed, the headline band were massively bigger than them.

To quote on dental, now the price for a day is down they don't have to worry so much for a 'strong sub'. The difference with topping V 2nd stage is, it doesn't matter to them who they'd be under as much as sub equivalent. But as I've said, if Foals headline next year it's because they just want them to, the band do so it's agreed, I don't think they'll be big enough on any scale to actually do it. It took Biffy a while to get there, had to change their sound and they needed more tHan one set of big dates.

Thing is with foals and biffy at the moment that if biffy have another big album I can see them doing gigs like Hyde park or Milton Keynes maybe even a cheeky night at Wembley stadium unlike foals who I think would struggle sell an arena tour but could be surprised. With prodigy think r\l will be fighting download for them. Unless they announce this is there last album and tour I can't see prodigy headlining

Woahhhh hang on. I've never said that the lineup will change now they've taken a bit off day ticket prices. In fact I strongly disagree with that. :P

Yeah Will is right dude. I meant quoting from you about the strong subs, I think they'll feel the need to do it less with a cheaper ticket.

Also last night I had a dream and apparently Yellow started a solo career in music and he was trying to look like Leonard Cohen in the advert that I saw and I just remember laughing my ass and trying to send you it all on Snapchat but every time I tried to take a photo it was blurry and you could make out his name so I left it (this was also after I met Josh Homme), so I thought I let you guys know now :)

Also on that note Yellow to headline R&L 2016

    • TVOD are playing Blue Basement in London 2/9 with a complete EOTR/Psych Fest shaped hole before their next gig in Lyon on 8/9. Well received in the Big Top last year, reckon they're nailed on for a secret set in the Tipi.
    • Didn't they widen the entrance last year to enable them to increase the number of pitches or have I imagined this? Perhaps they might return under a different form of glamping?
    • It should forever be the Tipi.   Just as the news about Geese was shared on Twitter.
    • It really surprised me that Rock AM Ring made Download feel like an extremely well organised festival with good communication in comparison. If we were to ever try either of them again we would go for IM Park and stop in Nuremberg.     Agree that the long thin mainstage isn't great, but where the mainstage is makes it really hard to navigate when it is busy because of that choke point created by the food vendors, bar/lounges with a view of main and where the crowd is coming form second stage. The concrete is hard on the joints. The front standing is a pisstake and the communication from the fest about what is happening on site other than which campsites are filling up leaves a lot to be desired. Car parks being a free for all doesn't help either.   I think it really suffers being so far from anything other than small towns/villages that lack proper public transport and Koblenz being the closest town which you can can use to get public transport to the fest being 60km away.
    • Yeah its absolutely on me that isn't think Shinia Twain was an awful choice- i get that.  Im still of the paul simon, ELO kind of thoughts but I realise things change. Im still intrigued what constitutes legend though. Robert plant played and he wasn't a legend slot- to me that would have fitted. Is it a ' comedy ' ' good time ' slot now? Comedy isn't the right word - guilty pleasure or something like that?
