zero000
Unknown Mortal Orchestra! They posted on facebook yesterday saying they were mastering the new record. They'd be perfect for the park: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6Niqxw_Yz0

I've been enjoying listening to the Crosses album a lot recently but could do with some new Deftones
justanothername
they've definitely been working on one, so seems fairly likely that it'll be released this year. excited for this. gonna be hard to top Koi No Yokan I figured they might have, but what about Eros? There has been a bit of talk of it being released and Smile was released last year (and it was awesome). Either way I'm happy and trying to top Koi No Yokan will be no easy task Probably not very popular around here but The Story So Far are releasing a new album this year so I'm looking forward to that

Chino's also working on new Team Sleep stuff so not sure whether that'll take priority over the new Deftones album this year or not

CaledonianGonzo
I'm not quite convinced yet, but I'm reasonably optimistic. It's easily their least instantaneously poppy album, so it's very likely a bit of a grower
The_Amazing_Oblong
New on me and won't change your world but I found this an enjoyable listen ; Ghost Culture - Ghost Culture (Released 5th Jan) Full album is on spotify but here is a taste

(Same day as Of Montreal album) Totally slipped my mind until I read this post but am totally stoked for this release now, thanks.
FloorFiller
it won't be released this year, but there finally seems to be talk of a new SOAD being a possibility (basically, Serj finally seems open to it). says they're gonna regroup after this tour and see if they can get something together, so fingers crossed for that possibly being released next year
dentalplan
it won't be released this year, but there finally seems to be talk of a new SOAD being a possibility (basically, Serj finally seems open to it). says they're gonna regroup after this tour and see if they can get something together, so fingers crossed for that possibly being released next year I thought as much seeing as they seem to have rejected doing Europe this summer, probably as they can get better bookings or demand more with a new album and being a lot more talked about than just the latest reunion tour. I'm not quite convinced yet, but I'm reasonably optimistic. It's easily their least instantaneously poppy album, so it's very likely a bit of a grower It's poppy as hell but in a different sort of way, I suppose. Gnomicide
New Butch Walker album due this year. If the new song is anything to go by it should be a cracker. Solo by Ryan Adams, Bob Mould on rhythm guitar... http://www.wsj.com/articles/BL-SEB-85776 He's also produced the new Frank Turner album which will be interesting. bocumaroy
It's poppy as hell but in a different sort of way, I suppose. Yeah, 'pop' is a very broad term, and their older stuff fits the bill in terms of song structure and all that, but has that lo-fi indie kind of aesthetic. This album is still full of catchy hooks but it's also pretty upbeat, which, rightly or wrongly, I always associate with pop music. I like it. Not a lot of it has grabbed me emotionally yet, but sonically, it's very good. Seems more like music for when it's dark than their previous stuff. I'd always pictured them early evening on the other stage, but this would be quite nice for a dance in The Park. Allie is my favourite so far. CHRLY
Didn't they sub the park last time? I remember seeing the coverage of them playing after the festival and it was going dark. Would love them to be there though, new song is good.
dentalplan
Yeah. I don't think they'll rise up the bill any more, just a sideways step to high John Peel or something.
