Personally I think it's about on par with the first one so far. Like you said the choruses aren't as catchy but I think a lot of it it packs more of a punch. They're sure to smash their inevitable Other Stage slot next year.

Okay I take back what I said about choruses, after a couple more listens I've decided that the choruses on 'Make Them Gold', 'Empty Thread' and 'Bury It' are all pretty huge. Hope some of those make it into their setlists.

New Lana Del Rey is the one that's (finally) won me over.

It's an absolute cracker and at the minute it sounds like it's the album that finally sees her living up to the early promise.

I nearly bought it yesterday in HMV, if it gets the CalGon seal of approval then I might have to go for it. I really love Born To Die and Paradise, but didn't get Ultraviolence because the singles didn't appeal to me.

We all know Chvrches is streaming here, yes?

First listen through and I like the sound of it. Nice big robust synthpop tunes, good for what ails ya. Same feelings as The Bones Of What You Believe, solid 7/10 album, very decent but never outstanding.

New Battles album is an improvement on Gloss Drop, Ice Cream apart. Not as good as Mirrored, but I'd still like to see them at Worthy.

Looking forward to seeing these lads in Manc next month, still haven't given the album a spin mind. I've seen you hail their 2008 set a few times on here, I wish I saw them back then. I love Mirrored but I think I'll probably only get to see Atlas which is a shame. I'd love them to roll out Tonto; absolute belter.

It is entirely one paced and stately to the point of somnolence - and I can see how that might pall a little after a while, but at the moment you'd BEST BELIEVE I'm feeling it's late summer David Lynchian Nelson Riddle torch song ennui.

It's the ne plus ultra of chilly Californian gothic.

After hearing a track from the new Bat for Lashes thing (SEXWITCH) earlier this year I was really looking forward to the album.

It's now streaming for free on Soundcloud in full and it's fantastic.

In my opinion :)

yeah i wasn't really sure what to make of this when it was announced but i really love the album! new BFL apparently due next year so unsure of whether Sexwitch will be doing festivals, but i'd welcome an appearance from both

She was a housemate of my wife's mate at uni and used to spend all day screeching Bjork and leaving her tampons to dry on the radiator!

Mrs Two Hats didn't like her much, which is a shame because I think her music is pretty good.

'God Knows I Tried' and here version of 'Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood' are my favourites off it. I love Lana Del Rey anyway but the new album is brilliant.

I loved cassanova at the time, but after that never really bothered with them. Got the singles collection but rarely listen now. Their later stuff any good?

My favourite album by them is probably 'Absent Friends'
